Special tool for stepless clamps? Removal/replacement question

I need to add a longer beer line to my very first kegging system (I am so excited! Giddy like a school girl!) Anyway, the QD is connected to the hose with stepless clamps.. Couple questions

1. Do I need a special tool to remove these? Something like this .. or can I just pop a screwdriver in there and remove it?

2. Can i replace this clamp with a normal hose clamp?

You can just cut it off and switch to normal SS hose clamps; nothing special about the stepless clamps at all.
