Has anyone bought sorbated cider to backsweeten with. I noticed at Aldi I can get a gallon of cider for three bucks but it has sorbate, so no good for fermenting with. But could I use it for backsweetening?
Yes Bigfly is right, even though there is sorbate in the sweet cider there was only enough added to hinder its own fermentation in its original volume. As soon as you add it to say, 5 gallons of fermented cider the active yeasts from the fermenting cider ( even if you have racked it a few times) will attack the new sugars.
