What event is your "ticket" for?

I posted about it earlier, and Toby bought a ticket too. It's for samples of beer and food tidbits along 30th St on Tuesday evening (walking distance for me).

I told Toby I'd pick him up at the conference hotel (or anyone else, I have room for 3), but he'd have to use uber or something to get back since I will park my rental car and walk at first, but will be drinking after that!

Well, I'm probably in no matter what, but I may want to go off myself to places I'd never get to, like Green Flash, Ballast Point and AleSmith since the Northpark area is so close and easily accessible to me via uber/cab/etc. I think there will be 3000 others in Northpark since it's so close. I'll let you know ASAP.

I'm not 100% decided on area so don't count Miramar out yet.

Well, like I said I'm probably in because I really enjoy being with "youse guys" ( a Yooperism for friends).

But it's an easy cab ride (and fairly cheap) to 30th, so I imagine that everyone who isn't going to the BNA party will also be on 30th. Just something to add to your list of considerations!

I've been told many of the places up in Miramar are small (in room size not production), don't serve food, and mostly production brewery-ish. If that's true they might be better for a small party visit.

I'm not familiar with the SD area at all so I have to go by what others tell me.

K, well there is a new Ballast Point tasting room in Mira Mesa/Miramar that has a restaurant (can make reservations online for up to 20, and I can definitely call them about 10 more). Green Flash is huge inside, and can easily fit 30+ people (plus, since their acquisition of Alpine, they usually have a few Alpine beers on tap). Rough Draft is smaller than Green Flash, but can definitely handle 30 people. And I think White Labs would be cool because Im sure HB'ers would like to see where their yeasties are coming from.

White Labs actually is having a class for Homebrewers on 6/10, so that may not be a place for us to hit that day.

I know a couple CHUG members going to that. Maybe they can join us if they're in that area.

I would say the only potential issue with WL is that their tasting room closes at 8PM and that the room is fairly small (probably 40-50 max occupancy)

For this type of event, it seems like a grab and go type situation is probably easier.

I'm gonna call ballast point tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure their new place in miramar is a restaurant and they are pretty quick. If we go to green flash, they always have a different food truck there. Never had any bad food either

I'm just going to order a bunch of pizzas for the ride up to Miramar. People can either choose to eat pizza or take their chances with the food trucks.

Me, but I'll be meeting y'all down at he breweries and having swmbo dd me around. I'll be at work that night til about 5:30 so I'll just meet up. Soper I think I have your number, so maybe I can text you and see where you guys are when I'm close?

I think Soper said meet at 4:30 with the bus to head off at 5PM. You could always cab/uber over to where we start or meet up with us at one of our stops if you're late.

I forgot to sign up for that, but I am not sure I will be needed to judge since I am only certified and not national.

Reception has no bearing on judging the competition, but honestly, they sound like they're going to need all the judges they can get Thursday. The Reception is more like a few mini-seminars (topics at the link below). Basically, I'll be cutting out on the mead presentation.

I'm still waiting to hear on cost/what they look like- but they should be inexpensive. If you want one, I can let the maker know what size and we'll see how many we come up with.

I don't think there are many right now- maybe 5-6(?)- so I'm not sure if he'll make them up or not.
