Hi all,

I'm looking for some advice.

I filled a pressure barrel with home brew but was having issues pouring a pint, so I invested in a co2 injector cap and some co2 cylinders.

I sterilised the equipment before using and put the cap on. All was good and the injector did its job, instantly solving my pint pouring problem.

The issue came when I tried to remove the co2!canister. Basically, the cap broke and a metal screw has fallen into the brew.

I'm really worried that my brew will now be ruined.

What do you guys think? Should I scrap the brew?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers

I'm not sure what you mean when you say "pressure barrel" but if it is a serving vessel similar to what I call a keg, then I would assume that the beer in it is already fermented and is being stored in cool/cold conditions. If this is the case, the chance of some sort of infection from the screw will be decreased and the process of wild yeast or bacteria growth would be slowed to the point that you'll probably not notice anything negative before the beer is all gone.

I would just keep drinking as you have been and not worry unless you notice a negative change in the flavor.

Thanks TheCrackpot. Yeah it's what you'd call a keg. Glad to hear that all may not be lost!
