I am looking for some feedback on my idiotic mistake I just made, and wondering if anyone has had a similar experience.

I had let my beer complete initial fermentation in the primary, and was transferring it to the secondary. The secondary was cleaned and rinsed, and the siphon equipment was sanitized properly, however what I thought was my spray bottle of Star San was actually a bottle of soapy water that I had previously used to check for leaks on my keg. (same bottle design, never emptied). So instead of sanitizing my secondary, I sprayed soapy water in it, and thinking it was star san I did not rinse it. (I did empty out the excess) After searching as best I could, I am no longer worried as much about infection (although I know it could happen) as I am the soap residue ruining the beer. I know that I should relax, and just see what happens, but was wondering what other peoples thoughts/experiences were on this type of mistake. Thank you for any feedback.

I think you have no other option than to relax and see what happens, I can't think of any remedy. I suspect that the result will not be pleasant, but I suppose the amount of soap could be so small as to not impact the batch. In any case, sorry to hear about this. Maybe take your mind off of it by getting another batch going?

I agree just see what happens and start working on a new batch and fyi I use Star San in a spray bottle to check for CO2 leaks.

So I kegged it and so far it hasn't turned out so bad. I think the amount of soap was minimal, as it was diluted in a spray bottle and then sprayed only lightly in the secondary and emptied out. I drank a few glasses, and haven't had any disastrous GI consequences, so I might give it a chance. I like the Suds idea, or I might call it my "Regular" Ole Kolsch.
