I'm currently fermenting an IPA and after the first day I noticed there was foam coming out of the airlock. I quickly made a make shift blowoff value and put it on. After about 6 days I put the airlock back on. Its day 9 and the sludge at the bottom has accumulated, but I notice there appears to be some on the side of the carboy as well. I didn't notice this on my other batches and I'm wondering if I contaminated it when I had to remove the airlock and blowoff value?

It still smells ok and I used starsan for everything that touched the opening.

Looks like just yeast settling and getting stuck to the sides of the carboy - happens to me quite often. Just put your hands on either side and spin it in place back and forth a few times, it should fall off.
