Hi,

I'm going to try making some slants. I've got a pressure cooker, some test tubes with screw caps, agar, 1030 wort, and nutrient.

How much agar goes into the wort? Can I blend cold, place into test tubes and Then sterilize in the pressure cooker?

Thanks for you help

Martin

Thanks for the informative link.

Here is the basic media recipe:
Measure out 35g of DME and about 400mL of water. Combine in the pan along with half a bar of agar agar (2.5 grams) and heat gently while stirring until the agar agar and DME are fully dissolved. It isn't necessary to boil it, it gets boiled later in the pressure cooker.

Can one assume that 2.5 g of bar form is the same as powdered?

I've never seen the bar form. I use powdered agar agar and follow the instructions on the link. I would assume 2.5g of agar agar is the same no matter what form it's in. I haven't had any problems.
