Almost forgot about this thing. I still think about this toy from time to time. There are some neat videos on YouTube.

Did anyone have one of these?

My older brother had one, and it was his favorite toy. He's 11 years older than me, so it had basically gone away by the time I was a kid. Probably too many liability claims due to the exposed rotors lol...

A few years back I got him "Chopper Command" off ebay for Christmas. It was an update version with a ring around the rotors for safety. At the time he was a helicopter pilot in the USMC, so I knew it would bring back fond memories.

Here's one from my own childhood.

Not my actual childhood, because my parents obviously didn't love me enough to buy me a ridiculously expensive 7' plastic aircraft carrier that would dominate their house for 3 months until I got tired of it and didn't care any more and then collect dust and take up space for several years. But one of my friends had one, and I thought it was the coolest thing ever [for about a week].

My mother-in-law found a very similar aircraft carrier at a thrift store a while back, and my sons LOVE playing with it.

in this thread.....are we supposed to be guessing the last person toy's age?

(and i remember the rolly thing chest sorta, so i guess 48)

I'm old enough that this was always my choice whenever Mom let us pick out candy in the grocery checkout line.

OMG I totally remember the candy cigs!

I got in such trouble with those in 3rd grade. I didn't understand at all; I mean, Dad smoked like two packs of the real ones per day so that was the right thing to do, right?

I remember the day I got one of these from my great grandparents from California when they visited us when I was 5. Mine was brown and is still at my dad’s house

Had one of these too at about the same time and it hauled a lot of dirt around the farm. Wore out a lot of knees in my jeans too.

Both were all steel except the wheels and windows.

Believe it or not, they still sell these now (had the same one when I was a kid).

Except the ones they sell now are "classic", where the cab and the frame are plastic, the smoke stack is rubber, and only the dump bed is some sort of stamped metal material.

Still, many fond memories of tearing up the sand box with one of these, so I'm going to drop this in for my picture as well.
