So how is your HLT set up - do you heat in the kettle and just store it in the tank, or does the HLT have it's own heating system?

I just heat the hot mash and sparge water on the stove.

Our little setup. We also have a post about building it: Brewsculpture Build and another post with a video of it in use: 60 Shilling Brew Session

Finally someone using an appropriate tubing size for a stand instead of way over building one that could hold a bus up. I really like the cantilevered corner to improve access to the lower BK pot.

Sorry we haven't used the 'proper' size metal for our builds. Mine was free, how much was yours?

1.75 x 1.75 or 1 x 2 are you best bet
The stand looks great. Seriously.

Critiquing it, I would say the shelves are way too big for the kettles. Had it been built more within the actual needed dimension, 1 x 1 would have sufficed with only the cantilever needing braces.

But, it's built, it looks great and will do what it was intended to. :D

Wow, that looks really tall. Great efficiency and nice rig!

Yea it us tall! But close to free. The tight is 2 department hanging racks. Found the outside of work.

Wouldn't want to stand under that HLT on a windy day :p

Brewing a Moose Drool Clone today. Anyways about my rig, I am using a painters scaffolding until I build me a weldless wallace stand. I just upgraded to a bottom drain MLT, man this thing doesn't keep temp for crap compared to my old cooler. I am not sure if I want to do a flat brutus style, or a 1550 type rig.
