Popped it's cherry yesterday. Lets just say I was very impressed

I'm very impressed as well. Can we at least get the specs to drool over?

Sure can! This is Morebeer's 2050 w/tippy dump. 26 gallon vessels, no automation, single pump. HLT on the bottom, MT on the top, and kettle right there in front. The heat rising up from the HLT on the bottom keeps the MT temps right where you want it.

Full false bottom in the MT and the kettle. HLT has a sight glass. Brew Thermometer & SS QDs on all vessels. The tippy dump rocks! Put a large trashcan underneath the shoot and dump away. Spent grain removal in .5 seconds :D

I built a clone of Sabcos chill wizard and can chill 21 gallons from boiling to 70 in 11 minutes all while its being oxygenated and racked into a Blichmann 27 gallon conical.

This was the initial run, so like any other rig there were a few hiccups. But overall the whole day was great and I'll only shave more time off each run after. Pics of the rest of my setup are in my gallery, but here are a few from yesterday's session

Here is the mash recirc. 35 lbs of grain really make a nice filter and the runnings clear right up within 10 minutes

This is right before the hot break. 26 gallon kettle mind you, so Im sitting right at 24 gallons pre boil to compensate for evap losses.

And here is a quarter pound Cascade flavor addition @ 15 minutes

Nice! Thanks for filling us in. I actually went and stalked your threads after posing the question, that is some really neat gear!

I actually bookmarked your thread about cloning the chill wizard and the thing is fantastic. I bookmarked it for when I get around to doing a build, so dong you dare take those photos down ;)

Someday I'll be able to afford all these toys (conical, dream brew system, etc.) and from there on itll just be :rockin::rockin::tank:

My ghetto-fabulous 100% scrap wood 3-tier system. I built this in 4 hours with wood I found in the garage attic left by the previous owner (I know, it looks like that's what I did too!).

I still need to put something under the HLT to keep it from catching fire. I've got some metal cabinet doors that I'll probably use up in that attic...

Form follows function.:mug:

All too often we get caught up in the "it has too look nice, too be nice". If it makes the beer that you like too drink........then it rocks.

I love seeing these stands. It's what us normal people have but just don't get posted.

Here's my new rig. Not the best picture. Still need to clean up some of the mess outside my shop from building :).

Brewing an Amber on a rainy day. Recirculating mash through the HERMS coil.

Did a Job for a Friend not long ago and he left Me with 60ft. of 2x2x3/16 angle iron.

So after storing it for a while ,I kept looking at it ,and said why not It`s Free!

and this is what I ended up with.

All the angles were coped to fit inside each other and it`s all stickwelded with 3/32 7018 rod.

I cut the legs off my modified sp10 and dropped it in the top ,worked like a charm.
Still to do ,two more burners ,two LG pumps ,plumbing,HLT,MLT ,The boil kettle is Done.

So far the out of pocket expense for this build except for my time is
$17.96 for wheels at HarborFreight and $11.98 for two coats of BBQ stove Paint.

anyone on here have issues with priming thier pumps? Im looking at a build my self and i see lots of posts with people with issues. I see very few with vents or and air bleed.

I switched to Little Giant pumps..

3-MD-HC or
5-MD-HC

Priming is not really an issue on these, not like on my previous March 809s

There are a few threads that discuss this. I added the bleeder valve and had a very successful brew day. No problems all day with the exception of losing prime once during the sparge. Closed the out flow, opened the bleeder, then then closed it off and all was good. I went with the March becuase it seemed to be the pump of choice. USA Pumps on Ebay has them new with base for about $113 shipped for free. That was the best price I have found.

I just began a modified Brutus 20 to start my foray into the wonderful world of all-grain brewing. It's 1" tube steel as opposed to 1.5" and I refused to do stainless due to cost savings. I will finish welding tomorrow, grind the joints, and get her painted. I also need to weld in the fittings for the gas manifold. I haven't decided whether to do dedicated pipes for the manifold, or build directly into the structure. Either way, I'm excited and can't wait!
