Should yeast starters be kept in the dark?

I am thinking about making a small fermentation chamber for starters, just a simple heated wooden box.
I'd prefer an acrylic door, but maybe light is an issue? Or maybe doesn't matter for starters?
FWIW, I always decant starters.

Light is an issue with hops. As long as your starter doesn't have hops it's not an issue.

Nope, no hops.
I was concerned about potentially "skunking" it, if that's a thing.

Skunking is a reaction with hop compounds. Starters won't skunk if they're unhopped.
