should i dump my beer ?

Hi Guys

I just got done Bottling my 1st batch of beer. I was using iodophor and i over did it. i used 1 gallon and added 1/2 OZ for 1 gallon and i was supposed to use 2 1/2 gallons for that amount. I rinsed all the equipment including all the Bottles and the bottle smelled like iodophor. i DIDN'T't rinse the bottle after i had them filled with the iodophor water. But I did though fill a little bit from the fermented beer say 1 finger per bottle rinseed it and then Filled it up.

Any help would me much appreciated

I've done the same thing. I've never noticed an iodine smell or taste in the finished product. Don't dump the beer, I'd personally doubt it will impact it in the end.

Also, just in case you didn't know, you don't need to rinse idophor off. For next time when you mix it in the proper amounts, just let everything air dry a bit and get as much out of the bottles as you can and it will be fine. I usually use a cap full in two gallons or so of water and its always worked for me.

Never dump.. let it sit and come back to it after a minute.. bet it's fine!!!

Well there is some people here that wouldn´t dump a radioactive batch colonized by roaches and rats. I´m not as extreme like those guys but I did use iodine (betadine) at higher concentrations than recomended for bottling and I had 0 problems, dumping a batch is not something that you want to do know just wait and yes RDWHAHB

Malt Extract: pale 6 lbs.

Grain Bill:

Caravienne malt 4 oz
Carapils malt 4oz
aromatic Malt 4oz
Biscuit Malt 4oz

CITRA 1.0 oz
Saaz 0.4 oz
Saaz 0.2 2 oz


Fermentation Temp: 65-80 degrees F
Yeast: White Labs WLP550
