How long do you let your clean and sanitized kegs sit before refilling?

I typically clean my kegs shortly after I empty them and then rinse with sanitizer. After that, they usually sit for awhile before I refill with beer. I always rinse and re-sanitize immediately before refilling, but wondering how necessary this is?

I typically leave about a gallon or so of StarSan in my cleaned kegs. When ready to use, I shake and then pour out the sanitizer. Ready to go. I've let clean kegs sit for months with this method with no ill effects.

After cleaning a keg I dump about a half cup of Star San inside, lid it, swirl it around, then pressurize and fix anything that leaks.
I occasionally have a keg sit empty for as much as a couple of months ("Slacker Mode" ;)) with no issues...

Cheers!

If they are clean (which to me means clean, rinse, sanitize), sealed and still under pressure, then they are still clean and ready to roll. time doesn’t change that.
