I have just made a batch of an Amber ale, which should have OG 1.052 and FG at 1.014. I'm using a graviator for measuring, and it been poured in the bucket just 3 hours ago.
The SG now reads 1.006.
Do you think this could be a problem with the graviator or could something have gine really wrong in brewing?

this is the first time i have heard of the graviator. but its obviously something with that. either faulty or calibration is off. i know the ispindle can lose accuracy from kreusen build up but its usually just a point or two .

Did you calibrate the Graviator? Never used one but looking at it on the net seems very similar to a Tilt.

For a very rough idea you can taste it. If it's 1.006 it'll taste almost like water with an off-taste. If it's 1.052 it'll be very sweet. Of course that's as rough of an idea as you can get, but it only takes a few seconds. I'm with the majority here saying it needs to be calibrated or maybe clean the sensor part of it really well.
