I was thinking on securing a mesh bag to help when I do my mash. I did my first all grain recently and I couldn't get my runnings as clear as I'd liked. Is anybody else doing this? How have you secured it to the tun?

I'm not sure how the bag would help much. I vorlauf several quarts until it's noticeably clear, then let it run. They're not going to be super clear, just now chunky or overly cloudy. Once it's consistently clear, you're good to go. Just add the collected wort carefully and slowly back to the MLT so it doesn't stir up the grain bed.

i vorlauf a few times, just to get most of the big chunks out, then i put an inline filter on it and let it run. i've always had good luck with this method.
