So I know there are two sides to the story about needing to use a second fermenter but I want to start my second batch of wort. So my question is how long does it need to sit in the second fermenter for before bottling it? Thanks in advance!

You want your gravity to be stable for 3 days before bottling. If you can get that from your 1st fermenter, great. If you don't get 3 days of identical SG and have to rack it you want to leave it in the secondary at least long enough to get 3 identical gravity readings. If you want to leave it longer to settle and clarify you can. Theoretically you could move it to secondary after 2 days of identical SG readings and the after being there only 1 day get another identical gravity reading and bottle it.

Just buy another bucket/carboy. Trust me, you do NOT want to move that if its still going. It'll interrupt the whole fermentation and you risk infection.

I would recommend buying a few more vessels. I quickly found myself with 8 buckets/carboys after 6 months or so of brewing.
