looks like this thread isn't terribly active, but i'm going to be in seattle friday to wednesday. i was last in town about a year ago (may or so) and had a blast. part of said blast was skulling a consecration batch 1 750ml before dinner, which was both a terrible idea and a great idea, but i digress.

anyway, in the past year or so, other than toronado, has anything else of significant interest opened up? this isn't going to be a beer-focused trip (whatup linuxcon) but i'm sure that at least one night i'll want to dedicate to beer in some fashion. i'm staying the first couple nights in west seattle and i'll be staying in belltown for the conference itself. i won't have a car, so nothing too far out there...

If you wanna grab the best burger in town IMO let's grab a burger and beer for lunch at Two Bell's tavern in Belltown. I'm available Mon-Tues next week for lunch anytime between 11-2. Let me know! Hit up Toronado on Tuesday night so Matt Bonney himself can pour for you! BW in house list is killer as well. Also hit up Pine Box if you haven't been.

Cheers!
Ryan

You been to Beer Junction yet?

thanks for the heads up! i'm not sure what my conference session schedule is yet but i may send you a PM when i know more. well aware of both pine box and the in-house list at bottleworks (it's where i got the aforementioned consecration).

You been to Beer Junction yet?

yup! i was planning on bringing back a 12 shipper worth of beer and unless there's some place that will sell 32oz growlers of boneyard stuff (so that they'll fit in the shipper slots) i was planning on just making one trip to beer junction in the first day or two and being done with all my beer shopping for the trip.

Get yourself to Holy Mountain

Well dammit, I am now unavailable to meet up. I have to travel to meet with some permitting people for an engineering project I'm working. Both Monday and Tuesday are now bad because of this and Wed-Fri I'm working on the Eastside. Wish I could have met up with you man..sorry it won't work out now.

it's all good...my trip has been super busy and it's not likely i would have been able to meet anyway. i have to do slides for a presentation that is happening basically the day i get back and it's been a bit slow going...

i did make it out to holy mountain. unfortunately, though, they only had two of their beers on due to issues with their chiller. the hoppy brett saison of theirs i had at brouwers on saturday was pretty killer though.

hoping to finish this presentation in the next hour or so and then spend the rest of the night killing off the rest of this growler of boneyard rpm in the tub.

Hey gents, headed out to Seattle from Boston for this upcoming weekend. Bringing a whole box of Trillium hops and maybe some other stuff. Shoot me a message if you'd like to work out a swap for anything.

Cheers,
Paul

Anyone have any intuition on when Holy Mountain line starts to die down during recent bottle releases? I don't arrive back in Seattle until next Tuesday and am looking to send a friend to get some grisette but I am not willing to ask them to wait in a big line. Happy to miss out on the table sour so I am trying to find that sweet spot where the line has died down but grisette might still be available.

I'd guess Grisette will last a while if it's a 4 bottle limit. Send your friend an hour or two later. This is also another Friday release, so it won't be as large a line as the last release. And it's not a fruited sour. And they're only going to have one bottle line, so it should clear quickly.

Also, if you guys have questions about this stuff you can feel free to post in the AMA thread and one of us from the brewery will happily try to help you out with an answer. We know that there's not enough of a few of these beers to go around (and for some beers there is plenty). We're working really hard to make more of everything so that folks who want bottles can get them.

The turnouts when we release bottles are changing, so we're just making best guesses, but we're happy to help tell you what we expect so you can plan accordingly.

paysse Are you guys planning more fruited beers for release anytime soon? Clarette and Phosphene are on freaking point. You guys make me so happy to live in Seattle. I've been dying for the types of beers you're producing. Cheers!

Btw, a Syrah barrel aged saison would make my day. Upright did a Sole Comp with Syrah barrels and I've been dying for something similar :)

I'm really glad you're psyched on the beers. Yes, we are increasing the rate of production of fruited sours. All of our primary cultures for those beers are maintained in house, so it takes a while to propagate them, and it takes a long time for those beers to mature. We have more Clarette and Phosphene on fruit already for the spring, those are variants with slightly higher fruiting rates and aged a bit longer.

We have several other fruited sours in barrels as well that we're very excited about. We also have been brewing as much base sour/wild/brett beer as we can to prepare for next summer's fruit harvests.

We also have a bunch of rad saisons and brett beers coming down the pike, and we're gearing up to release Midnight Still, our bourbon barrel aged imperial stout, the majority of which has been in barrels for 15 months. It's good.

I'll be in town Tuesday-Sunday for a conference, should have a lot of free time other than Thursday, and most evenings will be wide open. Would love to get together with some of you guys for beers if you're interested. Shoot me a message or just post something in here. Also might make a trip to De Garde on the weekend (either day possible) and would be happy to drive any interested folks down there (rental car company "upgraded" me to this enormous boat of a minivan and strengthened my resolve to not have kids).

Also, besides Pine Box which is a couple of blocks away, what are the best drinking posts around the convention center/downtown?
