Screwed up my grainbill :(

Turns out I messed up when ordering the grains for the Rapture RIS from AHS. Accidentally added 1#4oz of carawheat that was intended for another. It's all mixed up now. What can I expect this to do to my brew?

My guess is it will add residual sweetness more than anything. If this happened to me I might consider leaving out the malto-dextrin to try and remedy it. That's just a shot in the dark, though.

I wouldn't think that the malto-dextrin would be mixed with the grain. It should be a separate bag of white powder.

I'm not sure if my idea is the ideal remedy or not. Maybe some other people can chime in and give you some other advice or confirm my idea.

This is probably true. You likely really don't need to make any changes to remedy the addition of carawheat. In a beer that big, you might like the extra sweetness. If you're worried about the extra sweetness, then consider leaving out the malto.

It is in a separate bag. I missed that. :smack: Sounds like it will just add more complexity to it, which is good. Think I'll brew it with the malto and see how it turns out. Going to age it for a while in an oak barrel.

Going to be so difficult to resist opening them early. Brewing this now so I'll have it this fall.

A beer that big will be drinkable by this fall, but it will be even better next fall. I'd stash away a good amount and forget em for 1.5 years if I were you!
