Screwed up carbonation methinks. I was mistaken on the process. I brewed my first batch of blonde ale 3 or 4 weeks ago. After primary I just threw in the primer sugar in the fermenting jug thinking
"Hey, this should be fine"

Needless to say I didn't bottle anything yet because I haven't moved anything yet. Because ya know...im smart. It's been about a week since I put in the primer sugar. I'm assuming I will have a super flat or no carbonation at all.

Suggestions welcome.

It won't be carbed at all, I think it will affect the beer a slight bit, but you can re prime in a bucket and then bottle. I mean you made beer. You just need to finish it

Cool. Wasnt sure if the extra added sugar would over carb it or something. Need to bottle my 5 gallon saison too so that will be nice. Then I can think of my next brew

I'm confused.
Did you say you threw in the priming sugar but did not bottle? If that's the case then the yeast will just eat the extra sugar and be flat.

You must add the priming sugar to the bottling bucket IMMEDIATELY before bottling.

The added sugar causes a second fermentation in the bottle. Bi-product being CO2. Since it's a sealed co Rainer the CO2 is trapped and under pressure dissolves into the beer. Hence carbonation occurs.

You're definitly looking at zero carbonation. As mentioned above, you need to botte immediately after adding your priming sugar in order to produce the CO2 needed to carbonate the beer. Live and learn.

I wouldn't classify this as a major screw-up, though. Worst case, you'll end up with a slightly dryer beer, depending on how much sugar you added. You might not even be able to tell at all. Check your gravity and when it's stable for 2 or 3 days, bottle as normal:
- add sugar
- bottle immediately and cap
- allow 2-3 weeks at a warm temp to carbonate
- enjoy!

What you just did will give the yeast more sugar to continue to ferment. Depending on how much you've added, you're looking at a slight increase of abv and change in flavor.

You need to transfer from fermenter to bottling bucket, add the priming sugar to bottling bucket, then bottle from there.
