Hello all,

I started brewing a few years ago with a Coopers kit, and I immediately came to love the fermenter that came with it. It's got plenty of extra volume if I want to make a slightly larger batch, and that extra volume means plenty of room for krausen so I've never needed a blowoff tube in any of my brews so far. The wide open mouth makes it easy to clean and fill, and the gradient on the side makes it easy to see the level. Plus I can still get a look inside via the top.

I'm at the point now that I may need to think about replacing this one, but I would definitely like to have a second. I have a bucket fermenter that I use occasionally as well... but I just don't like it as much. Call me picky. I did look into getting a second one years ago and was told my only option would be to get a new starter kit, so I never did it. I would just go for it now, but a couple of years ago Coopers changed to that new bucket, and I don't really care for that design at all. I hear it works well, but it's just not worth getting a whole new kit for it.

I haven't had any luck finding a similar fermenter, at least not in the same size range (~30L). I did see that Northern Brewer came out with a glass fermenter with a similar design, but I just don't trust myself to not drop a heavy glass fermenter. Plus I'd like a bit more volume than 6.5 gal as I like to do at least 6 gal when I'm going to bottle vs keg, and sometimes even if I'm kegging I'll do an extra gallon or so to put a bit in bottles.

Has anyone found a similar designed fermenter? I can live without the spigot on it.

I've actually thought about using one of those, we have a couple for dog food. They tend to be a bit expensive, but that might be the route to take.

Another, but slightly pricy, option is the 30l Speidel fermenter. It's cask shaped, with a ~6" diameter screw-on lid, and a spigot near the bottom. I have a 20l one for use as a secondary, and I'd love to go for the 30l as a primary fermenter.
