Scotch barrel beers

So, I have an opportunity to buy a freshly dumped 25 gallon Colkegan single malt barrel (made in USA, but Scotch-style) for ~$100. A friend and I were thinking about aging beer in it, but there are few successful scotch barrel-aged beers that I've tried, so we're hesitant to commit.

Anyone have any great recipes for scotch barrel aging, or know of a great beer aged in one?

A big Scottish Ale would be great for that barrel. Innis and Gunn original and Founders Backwoods Bastard would be good one's to check out.

yeah you right, but it has a scotch like character to me.
