Hello all, new installation in my beer fridge.
Is there any reason I shouldn’t put a gas post and ball lock on the beer side of my coupler? I understand the difference between gas (gray) and liquid (black) ball locks but is there anything construction wise that makes this a bad idea?

Thanks,

Sanke and corny kegs work similarly. The liquid side goes to the bottom of the keg via a tube while the gas is at the top. The only reason I can think of to do this is to burst carb a commercial keg that you filled with homebrew. If that is the case there are check valves in both the gas and liquid sides of the coupler to prevent back flow.

The question, more specifically, is about putting a gas post/ball lock on the beer side.
The beer side is connected to the liquid dip tube, so there is the potential for beer to back up into the gas line if the pressure in the keg is higher than the regulator setting when the gas fitting is connected. A check valve at the regulator should prevent beer from backing up into the regulator (as long as it does its job.) I once watched a guy attach a gas line (with liquid QD) to the beer out post where the keg pressure was higher than the regulator setting, and there was no in-line check valve. Beer came spewing out of the regulator. I'm glad it wasn't my regulator, and I wasn't the guy who hooked it up.

Umm, why?

But anyway, the inside of a gas post is the same as the inside of a liquid post and the inside of a gas QD is the same as the inside of a liquid QD.
Because that’s what I’ve got on hand.
Thank you! That’s the answer I was looking for.
