When you sanitize/sterilize bottles in the oven, what do youmput them on or in? Also, about how long should they cool before bottling?

I heat sanitize my bottle in the oven. I wash them with water and very little bleach to clean and get any labels off of them. Rinse them out really good. Then, I place some aluminum foil on the ends and place in a 350 F over for an hour in a single layer and let them cool on the counter until they are cool to the touch. They come out burning hot so be careful with them. Keep the foil on the top untill you bottle to keep them sanitized.

Prosit!

Thanks for the replies. When you say you put them in a single layer, do you put them on or in something like a cookie sheet with edges or a shallow glass dish?

I just lay them on the racks. One facing you and one facing away to fit more onto the rack. I put as many as i can in the over so i dont have to do it all night.

BTW, doing a batch overnight is the best way to do this. Heat the bottles 30min-1 hour before you hit the sack, turn off oven and let them cool in there overnight.
