Hey All,

Here is a robust porter recipe I have been working on and would appreciate your advice. I don't know if my dark steeping malts are enough to give it the flavor it will need? Anything else you see wrong, let me know (don't know if the Carapils is needed either).

SG: 1.063
SRM: 28.4
IBU: 43.8

5 gallon batch, 60 minute boil

Malt:
Light DME 6.00#
Crystal 40L 0.75#
CaraPils 0.25#
Chocolate 0.50#
Black Patent 0.25#

Hops:
East Kent Goldings 1.00 oz 4.75A 60min
Fuggle 1.00 oz 4.75A 60min
East Kent Goldings 1.00 oz 4.75A 00min
Fuggle 1.00 oz 4.75A 00min

Thank you for your time and help.

Looks solid to me. You are on the hoppy side of things, but I don't see anything wrong with that. The only thing I might do is find a way to get a bit of dark crystal malt in there for a hint of burnt sugar and dark fruit character. I don't think you need the carapils, so I would probably swap that out for some crystal ~120. Good luck brewing.

Thanks. I actually had typed the 120L next to the carapils so I am glad you mentioned that. Consider that part changed, lol.
