I don't recall mine having those U shaped bars. That plastic horse lasted for me and my little sister.

We used to eat Quik out the can. Our folks hated that! If I did it today, I'd weight 500 pounds.

simpler times. When babies were kept safe in plastic wrap and bad words now didn't mean the same.

I remember there used to be a candy made from LME, about the size & shape of a luden's cough drop, it was just solidified LME, harder than a caramel, but softer than hard candy, molded into an elongated shape & wrapped in wax paper. Anybody else remember these? I've looked for them for years, but nobody seems to know what they were called or who made them.

Here's a couple of other things I remember.

I had a banana seat, but not a frame tube shifter.

Wore more Rustler and Husky than Toughskins. Damn. Those jeans would stand up by themselves.

Named after the movie of the same name ... :D

I remember a lot of things that I can't talk about here. Magical. Who do you tell those to? Mostly stuff with girls.

But yea, all the stuff above is great. Jarts! When I was little, in the 70's, we really didn't have name brand stuff, we just played in the woods and stuff. But I do remember Randy Dinkens describing the greatest thing that ever happened, a football game in your hand. You could run, pass, and the crowd would cheer when you scored. When I finally got one, it was so much less than what he said, but regardless I loved it and played it endlessly.

I grew up in a city with a bunch of open canals. We used to go play by them all the time. We went looking for fish, snakes, turtles and frogs. We'd walk across the pipes. One time, we built a raft out of a large campaign sign and some wooden stakes. It was good for one crossing.

Then, inspired by TMNT, and frightfully enough, CHUD, we took to exploring the storm drainage. It's a damn wonder we didn't get lost, drowned or die from poor atmosphere.

How about sticky finger? That's an old one. Or the Mattel lever action rifle & colt pistol that had cartridges with the red plastic bullets that fired when you stuck the round caps on them? I used to shoot my brother & lil sis with'em when I was 1 or 2...I might be a red neck...

Didn't have that one. I had plastic ring and paper strip cap guns. I had a spring loaded gun that shot discs. That thing was bad ass! I did have to go hunt all the discs after shooting it though. Those were the only discs I was ever going to get.

I didn't get a sticky finger till I was about 20.

We used to get our bikes up to a good speed and then slam on the coaster brake and let the tire make out a long, loud squeal, and leave a long swervy mark on the pavement by our house.

My friend had an old bike with a banana seat. It was pretty choice.
