Relieving an over carbonated keg

I force carbonated the keg for my IPA last week, but now that I go to try the beer I find that the glass is 80% head! I was wondering if relieving pressure by loosening the lid slightly for a few seconds might help? But I don't want a flat beer either, haha. What should I do?

Pull your gas line, purge the keg to let all the CO2 out and let it sit 24 hours.

Come out next day, put gas on and serve. If its still too foamy repeat above process.

You basically need to remove all pressure inside the keg so that the CO2 can come out of solution, if your having problems still purge the keg and leave it at room temperature to speed it up.

Or pour five glasses of foam, let them settle, pour into one glass, drink it, THEN DO IT AGAIN !

Its likely doing this you will overshoot your "goal" and end up with less carbonation than you want...just set your pressure and leave it.

This is why force carbing can be a bad thing, in an attempt to drink it earlier you just end up making way more work for yourself and it takes longer to get just right than if you just started out by setting it at 10PSI or your serving pressure and waiting a week
