Hi All,

I brew my first batch on a new system last week. An IPA that turned out a double IPA ... ah well.

I took a pre boil and it look alright, just above my est. 1.063 and took my post boil OG and it was probably like 1.065 and I decided to take a reading with my hydrometer and I was at 1.075 so in my head my refractometer was not calibrated but I did calibrate after with some distilled water and I was calibrated. Does anyone of any ideas what happened? I took water from my Dehumdifier, I was told it's distilled.

Cheers

I gain about 8 - 10 points from pre boil gravity to O.G. If your pre boil was 1.063 and you ended with 1.075 that's seems right. Your new system is probably getting you better efficiency and you need to update these numbers in whatever brewing software your using.
