Decided I'd try something fun and make me a Red Lager. Pitched my yeast this morning and that thing is bubbling right along after 3 hours at 50 degrees. If the beer tastes as good as the wort looked it should be a fantastic beer. 5 gallon batch. O.G. 1.050

6 lbs Weyermann Bohemian floor malted pilsner
2 lbs Weyermann Carared
2 lbs Weyermann Vienna
2 oz Weyermann Roasted Barley

90 min boil

1 oz of Mittelfruh with 40 mins to go
1 oz of Mittelfruh with 15 mins to go

24 IBU

Wyeast Bohemian 2124 starter made with my stir plate.

I'm not familiar with CaraRed Malt, but 2 lbs seems like a lot of caramel malt for a 1.050 OG beer. How was the color after boiling? I really like red lagers and the carared is interesting to me.

Well its only around 18L so not exactly a strong caramel malt and Weyermann recommended up to 25%. The 2 lbs makes 20% of the bill. Color was beautiful red, hopefully it will taste as good as it looks.
