Wicked weed collab

Wicked Weed Brewing and The Rare Barrel combined forces of sour and funk to bottle and release Happy Blending, a barrel-aged American sour ale fermented with plum and nectarine.

The blenders from both Wicked Weed and The Rare Barrel traveled to each others breweries to select from each other's barrel collection. The combination of these beers were then fermented with nectarines and plums to create a sour beer representative of each barrel house.

part of me wishes they would put the Rare barrel logo on it instead of ambassadors
Completely agree - overall they have very nice branding, but the "Ambassadors of Sour" in both name and logo just isn't working for me.

Then other people would probably complain that they paid $200 or whatever to join a club and didn't get glassware that's different and special from regular Rare Barrel branding.

Hopefully bottled by TRB so we can grab bottles.

Another set of glasses I will never use haha. I don't think I even took mine out of the paper bag they gave them to me in last year.

Last year was the really nice teku glasses. I have basically consumed all sour beers out of them ever since I got them. I will probably never use these taster glasses though...

Was just turned on to The Rare Barrel a few months ago and I have been in love. Very happy with the Ambassador program so far and looking forward to Beer Week.

Does anyone happen to have an extra ticket for the JK/RB private tasting? I missed it by about 10 minutes and would love the extra time with their beer on Wednesday.

Also on the lookout for an extra RB growler if anyone has one to sell or trade. The one I have is not enough!

"Based on your feedback, we have decided to try something different for our 2017 events! We are going to host 3 Ambassadors of Sour parties throughout the year, all taking place on Saturday evenings. These 3 new AOS parties will be replacing our previous bottle release parties, so that you have more time to plan for your visit! On these nights, the Tasting Room will close early and then re-open exclusively for you and a guest. Details for each event will be released as each event gets closer, however, below are the dates that we have planned for those parties and our 4th Anniversary Party...

Welcome to Ambassadors of Sour 2017 - Saturday, February 25th, 6PM to 10PM

Ambassadors of Sour Cellar Party - Saturday, June 10th, 7PM to 10PM

Ambassadors of Sour Appreciation Night - Saturday, September 16th, 6PM to 10PM

4th Anniversary Party - Saturday, November 4th - 2 sessions, times TBD

We hope this schedule makes it a little easier for you to attend some of our events and allows you to plan a little further in advance! We hope to see you at some of our events in 2017 and as always, if you have any questions, send us an email to [email protected]."

I don't know how i feel about this. I really enjoyed those weekday bottle release parties.

I'll be honest, this excites me as it gives people like on the East coast enough time to plan a trip out that way!

Mind you, still need the marital okay but at least it's not a week or two out and scrambling for airline tickets.

that makes sense for an east coaster or someone who doesnt live close to Berkeley. but i loved going up there on the bottle release days and picking up my beers and also getting to try the new release. it was never crowded on the weekday releases, i feel like these new weekend times are gonna be super crowded sadly.

also does this mean you will be visiting the bay area this year? :)

Any word on if this will be sold to Ambassadors first?

The little guy will be a year and a half old, and the anniversary party is the weekend right before my birthday, so I'm going to see if I have enough of a case for my wife and I to make a long weekend trip out of it!

Sunday, February 12th 1PM - 8PM | Cellarmaker + The Rare Barrel Collaboration Release

The brains of sour and dank put their heads together to release not 1, not 2, but 3 collaboration beers this year. What is even more special about this release party is that for 1 day only we will be filling any clean 32oz and 64oz growler brought in for all 3 collaboration beers. There are just a few requests we need to ask prior to bringing in your growlers to this Cellarmaker + The Rare Barrel event.

Growlers must be a marked 32oz or 64oz growlers with a lid
Please tape over any logo that is not The Rare Barrel logo
Please clean your growler prior to attending this event

Looking for grub? Real Smoked BBQ will be hanging out Sunday as well to fill bellies with tasty BBQ dishes!

Still no word on what those collabs are or if they will be available in bottles?
nothing yet and no word about bottles from what I can tell. Somehow i doubt it though since they're doing growler fills for them.

If my memory serves me correctly, Tangerang (CM & RB collab) wasn't ever bottled because it was dry-hopped I think and jay wanted it to be consumed fresh? Maybe that was just a rumor?

Jay has said on The Sour Hour that they will never bottle dry hopped beers for the reason you mentioned.

So I’ve picked up allocations in the past and they’ve always put my bottles into the regular case boxes. I’m not sure how to interpret this…

… if I’m picking up 3 cases of beer… like, do I basically have to choose “I’ll bring my own” and then bring my own empty boxes? There’s no way I’m paying $9/ea for like the basic single-wall boxes they were giving out for free.

yeah i'll bring my own totes works.

They actually always give them to me in a box and i just put them in my tote even if i select that option

Shippers are actual shippers, not the normal boxes. Unless they've changed that for this year. Just picked up two cases this weekend (my last bottles, and for a trustee) and they both came in the standard case boxes.

Choose the paper bag option. They will do 2 per bag so you will have 18 bags to grab. (lol) But seriously I know once you selected more than 2 bottles it changed that to case boxes in the past. Maybe that part of the site is broken.
