Great session 1 for RB Anniversary party. Lots of beards and logo'd zip ups but almost no neckbeards if that makes sense. Also the male to female ratio was a bit off for a beer geek event. Furthermore, a good number of Asian gals.

The best part was the guest tap station, which helped mix it up a bit.

Can confirm this for session 2 as well Although not very man asian girls.

Awesome! Thanks for listening Rare Barrel :). Still bummed that these have to be shipped though...

It's like they only half listened haha. I get the forced shipping though, they are tired of looking at those bottles and want them out the door.

Are you ready for your 5th exclusive Ambassador bottle release of 2016? We’re excited to announce that There Are Rules is ready for you!

There Are Rules is a golden sour beer aged in oak barrels with raspberries, apricots, and peaches. There are rules in producing sour beer, however, adjustments are made in the approach and alternate tracks are explored. For the 5th Ambassadors of Sour release, we took a different approach to create acidity. We inoculated a Brett Saison with raspberries, apricots, and peaches alongside our house mixed sour culture to showcase acidity from fruit and bacteria expression. Balanced and bright, There Are Rules strikes up aromas of bergamot and fresh picked raspberries and is pinned with flavors of tart raspberries, ripe apricots, and juicy peaches.

Does that mean that fruit is added earlier? I'm trying to understand how the approach is different.

Yes, I believe before they were blending finished beer and then aging it on fruit. Now they are taking a brett saison and adding the souring bacteria at the same time they add the fruit.

I think there's also plenty of folks not renewing. I didn't and know several friends who passed this year as well. I think it's a well run program but I feel like in the last couple of years their beers have become just a bit too sour for my liking. I still enjoy the beers, but not as much as the first couple of years. Seems like way less fruit and oak flavors and way more mouth-puckering sourness. I will gladly visit and still pick up some public on sale bottles.
That and the sameness of them. They pretty much have 3 beers, and I don't like Gose. I was done after year one, but a big part of that was just all the money I spent on one brewery. I know a number of people who hung on until this year but are not renewing. No more Thur parties for me - oh well.

this is one of their first (if not the first) raspberry golden sours isn't it?
Yeah. It doesn't sound far removed from beers we've already had from them. I'm hoping the change in brewing method will yield a distinct result. It's about time they moved on from just taking three base beers and adding different **** to them.

I posted this at the "other place" too so sorry if you're in both spots and this is a repeat question. But for those intrepid soles that no longer frequent that place for various and sundry reasons, I have the following question for you fine folks:

I was just getting my beers pulled for my awesome trustee to pick up and saw an option for them to pack the beers in "shippers" for $9.00. That feels pretty reasonable for a shipper so I was wondering if it was too good to be true. Has anyone bought/used the Rare Barrel shippers?

Yes, well not me but I have picked them up and slapped a label on and they made it fine.

Remember folks, in 15 minutes you can purchase the extra 4 "there are rules" if you'd like :)

Anyone else experiencing problems trying to purchase the extra bottles? there is no option to pick up at brewery and it keeps trying to charge me 17 for shipping.
