We're ready to release Impossible Soul, our 4th Ambassadors of Sour exclusive bottle release! As promised, here are all the details...

Bottle Release Details
What | Impossible Soul is a golden sour beer aged in oak barrels with tart cherries and sweet cherries. Fermented with Saccharomyces, Brettanomyces, Lactobacillus and some other special microorganisms, this blend displays notes of cherry preserves with hints of lemony tartness. At the heart of this beer lies an Impossible Soul: seductively tart, yet timidly sweet.

Impossible Soul was originally planned to be a public release, but we figured we could get $30 for this bottle instead. Around 4 months ago, we started preparing the blend for this beer and as our blenders sampled the barrels and prepared small blends, they started talking about Impossible Soul... a lot. As more of us sampled it, we started to fall harder for this beer. As Impossible Soul conditioned in the bottles, we fell even harder. While Impossible Soul wasn't originally planned to be a club release, we decided to change plans and release the bottles exclusively to you because we strive to give our Ambassadors the best beers that we possibly can. When producing sour beers, it's important to start with intent, but just as important to listen to the beers and be open to changing course. We hope you fall for this sour beer as much as we have.

So it is an Ambassador's only release, yet the limit on additional bottles is 12 per person at $30 a pop. Interesting. Sounds like it would be a good one to drink fresh and have another for aging.

I can't believe it took a full day for somebody to point out that text I put in.
similar to my thinking as well. What's the difference between this being a $25 public release fruited beer and a $30 ambassador beer? They intended it to be public initially.

Anyone fill out the Ambassador survey?

I basically said they need to charge less for extra Ambassador bottles (I referenced other breweries who offer similar products for less) and more educational/private events similar to the Barrelworks event I couldn't get into recently.

I told them, in each comment section, that they are charging too much. Suggested not charging more than $24 a bottle, nothing should cost more than that.

But, that was just me bitching about it.

I asked for more brett character and flavor diversity. Why not blend an oak aged saison with the base golden sour, throw in some apricots and profit?

I asked them to make a tart saison a la Bernice or Cellarman. I also told them to perhaps charge less for club only, however if they sell them all why would they charge less? When you compare to RRBC 375 sours the $30 isn't that crazy per oz.

I also asked for them to do spontaneous fermentation (trying to get more funk in their beer) and a cheapo non barrel aged Berliner. They say they want to cover the world of sour and those are two big things that would really add a lot of flavor diversity to their lineup.

Yea in a recent episode of The Sour Hour, Jay mentioned he wasn't married to only doing oak fermentations. Sounds like he is intrigued with kettle souring.

I asked them for the chance to taste the beer before we are asked to buy extras.
Can't believe I didn't think of that. I keep thinking "Oh I'll try some at the release and see if I want more" and then the sale is the day before the release. Well, okay then.

Exactly. Drives me nuts. I want to make sure that when i drop a house payment on a case, it is worth it damn it, lol.

They may figure if people get a taste of the beer before hand, they may find it's not worth it and therefore not drop a house payment on it.
