Just became a Grandpa
I got the opportunity to walk underneath a cruise ship that was in dry dock for repairs following a grounding in Alaska. It was surreal to see this enormous ship just being held up by blocks of wood. The damage to the hull and propellers from the grounding was also impressive.
I walked under Nimitz during her post-shakedown drydocking back in '75. Like a big, dark, smelly, cellar. It's hard to remember it's a ship when you can't see the drydock walls. Funny, I remember solid black antifouling paint, instead of red with black boot topping. My memory isn't too good, but my forgettery is first rate.Ship I was stationed on was in drydock for a while.
FFG is not nearly as impressive as that CVN. 1/3 the length & 1/25 the displacement
had to take a couple looks to get it to float. Is it just me, or is that pink t-shirt levitating?View attachment 605989
Stared and stared, couldn't see it. Walked away for a moment, glanced again, and bam, there it is. Weird. Is it just me, or is that pink t-shirt levitating?View attachment 605989

Since when is a wheel barrel a toy?
Turns out that my high school science teacher was wrong when he said only 10% of the elephant is above the surface of the water.
Ha! I did one for SWMBO recently. She said I am a 13 year old mentally.
Is that Lincoln Nebraska.... That is a scene I have seen before on the far north side of town
