not a clue. I can't remember if it was like that when I got there, or if it was gone by the time I left the ASW base in San Diego, but it was there a while. late 80s

Fleet Anti-Submarine Warfare Training Center Pacific (FLEASWTRACENPAC) is right between Shelter & Harbor Islands in San Diego Bay

photo taken about the same spot I was when I "witnessed" this crash. https://asn.flightsafety.org/wikibase/57209

we could see the start of the NAS runway across the bay. we'd hear the power up, see the plane start it's takeoff, then 10-12 seconds later see it airborne.

we didn't see this one get airborne. didn't see it actually crash, just a large black cloud rising from the site.

I'm a boomer as well with two Gen Z'ers (Zoomers). They finally recognized in high school that the 2,000+ records in the garage next to the turntable were actually pretty cool and that their old man had decent, yet eclectic, taste in music from classic rock to punk to new wave to reggae to jazz to just plain oddities (e.g. the Archies and Banana Splits' albums).

I am also boomer. when my son was young, 10 years old or so, and a Zeppelin or Aerosmith track would come on, HE would be the one to turn it up. Now its TOOL and GODSMACK but he still likes the classics. That's my boy! Raised him right. We have been to 5 TOOL, 4 PUCIFER, 2 APC and 3 GODSMACK shows. plus A7X, GHOST and VOLBEAT. We have tickets to Stevie Nicks in September. When she played Hershey about 10 years ago, my wife and son had the opportunity to meet with Stevie Nicks after the show. I was working as a rigger for the show so I missed that opportunity as I was busy taking out her show.

I'm a "Boomer" here as well. I made the last year of the cut off 1964. I had so many record albums, 8 track tapes for awhile, then cassettes out the gazoo, then CD's to replace everything I already had. I even down loaded everything on a first generation Ipod. Still have that, and use it. Paying a service to listen to music is something I have not been able to bring myself to do....... I know, get off my lawn!

I'm 7 years older. I have no problem paying for Spotify(don't like the way they pay musicians), but I'm rarely in the house listening to music so my big stereo is pretty much useless when I'm in my workshop or at our house in France. I love my Bluetooth speakers and Spotify because I can listen to the music I love the most wherever I am. In France I'm converting a 200 year old hog barn and blacksmith forge into a barbecue station and outdoor kitchen. Miserable work, but being able to listen to music the whole time makes it bearable.

Technically I am a Boomer, and by God I *DID* save my albums, and by God (only one of) my offspring wanted records.

But not the Dan Fogelberg, Kansas, Sade, Uriah Heap or Jethro Tull for some strange reason.

listen to "Masque" by Kansas. (yes... I have it on vinyl)

you'll never listen to "Point of Know Return" or "Leftoverture" again (I have neither)

Been out hiking this week.
Unfortunately my left shoulder decided to give up and I had to cut it a few days short, currently sitting/camping at a parking lot next to a small dirt road in the middle of nowhere, awaiting a ride to meet up tomorrow with my buddy who decided to continue to the nearest town the trail goes by.

Only DF album I can take is "Souvenirs" but the rest of that list is right up my alley.

I was talking to a nurse at work a while back. She mentioned some music artist I had never heard of and she asked me what music I listened to. I showed her a playlist from my phone that had similar bands in it. She said she had never heard of Sade. I found that hard to believe and began naming songs to see if she recognized any of them. She then popped up with , "When did you graduate highschool?". I said "1979". She thought a minute and then said, "My mom was born in 1978". I pondered that for a bit... and then I just turned and walked away.

Back in the early 70's I bought a ticket to see the Eagles in Mobile Alabama($6). Fogelberg was the opening act and he blew the crowd away. I've been a huge fan ever since.
Oddly, my Spotify last night was playing Fogelberg songs at least every third song, we listened to stuff I hadn't heard in decades.
