So I made a bot recently to automatically purchase a beer online using the name of the beer. It will refresh automatically until it sees the beer and will then buy however much I specify and adjust it appropriately according to limits. The beers seem to sell out faster with every release so I figured I'd try to get some advantage using my programming ability.

It was a lot of fun and ive gotten the time from detection to purchase down to about 2.4 seconds. This is considerably faster than my first version which was a more accurate emulation but had a lot of unnecessary resource loading.

Now that it's actually working...well... have I become a shitlord?

Yes

But what if I'm keeping beer out of the hands of known shitlords? Surely that has to count for something. In addition, the bottles im getting will never be sold or even traded, only ever entering a box to fulfill a BIF or LIF.

There must be some kind of lenience here... It can't be Batman rules.

Maybe @beerear can weigh in here.

That depends. How much do you plan on razzling the bot for?

Yea my roomate who used to work for microsoft and I were kinda joking around one day and actually built one as well, that we never plan on using. Just wanted to see if it could be done. It was for cantillons site.

No no no you don't razzle the bot, you razzle the -right to use the bot-.
No no, I'm not a dick, I'll run my bot for anyone for free. Just shoot me a PM with the necessary info:
  1. Desired beer.
  2. Desired amount.
  3. Retailer website with login info.
  4. Full name and address
  5. Credit card information, including security code
  6. Picture of your watch

I guess the other question I'd have is what beers you're successfully getting out of this. Is this like a bpt type of thing? Or are we talking like etre type stuff? Cuz I imagine there's already bots galore on bpt type of things. You're just joining the crowd basically.

The rumor I've heard is that they picked NOLA for October. And then had trouble locking down the actual venue they wanted.

Again, this is 100% a rumor I've heard. It might be COMPLETELY false. I have NO backing from anyone who is actually associated with Shelton. So honestly, you should assume it's false.

But it's what I've heard.

I've heard at least 3 different things at this point:

-Washington DC
-Denver (specifically in October)
-Seattle

That's the first I've heard about New Orleans. But of course this could all be total ******** in every direction.

It's from a small relatively unknown brewery in Wyoming.

I mean you are from Florida....

;)

I know some people have used similar bots to send them alerts when Belgian web shops have certain lambics in stock.

i'm more interested in how many random boxes will show on at your home

That's too much power for 1 man.

There are actually websites that will do this for you on eBay for a fee.

Therefore quit your job and sell once-per at a percentage to shitlords then you can buy $600 homebrew whalez with your winnings.

I'm so glad you did this in Python though. You should wrap it up into a generic package and then give a talk at PyCon in beautiful Cleveland this year.

Speaking of which, I'll be in beautiful Cleveland for the first time in May. New state for me. I hope there's good beer.

Welcome to Ohio

clevelandisthecity can help you out

Already in the works. I'm making a Kickstarter video to create a service called eMule.

What language? And does it interact with multiple sites? (Havent been able to find a code/dev thread)

I wrote one in Python some time ago(acting 'server' polling a few websites) and an Android app for monitoring. Obligatory: never used it ,more to try it out.
