Hey shut up dude, don't make us recognize our alcoholism for what it is.

Everytime this hobby vs alsoholism conversation comes up IRL I butcher up an old Mitch Headburg joke...

'I used to drink a ton of High Life and bourbon. I still do but I used to too.'

Still have yet to catch someone who gets the reference. It's how I know that on the whole craft beer doesn't contain a large percentage of cool people.

I'm drunk now. I'll see myself out.

Smoky the bear is intense in real life.

Welcome home.

Their Austin facility is ******* massive so I'm still trying to figure out what all they're gonna do with that space. It's twice the size of the Colorado brewery inside.

I joke that it's the future local Budweiser brewery.
They're planning on expanding Cigar City to 30+ states by next year. I can already buy it locally (outside the US) semi-regularly even.

They just showed up in Grand Rapids this past weekend, at least for the first time since they brewed a special Jai Alai batch at Perrin, which has common ownership through CANarchy. I'm unclear as to whether they'll be shipping beer from an actual CCB brewery or if it'll be made in town at Perrin. Of course, I'm pretty sure we're only going to see boring staple beers, which means that anything that doesn't sell in the first week or so will die on the shelf here, since way too many people have a local only mentality.

KBS

750ml bottle - ~$21
12oz bottle 4pk - ~$23

Wot

here in Southeast PA aka "around Philly" KBS for years is/was a beer you either had to be on a "list" to get 1 bottle of or stand in line for the privilege to pay $10 or more for a single 12oz bottle.

Saturday I was at my local GIANT grocery that sells beer and they had a case of KBS sitting by the register. $26.49 a 4 pack. That was a hell of an impulse buy.

Yep, from what I understand only the regular cans will see large distribution, the special stuff will be brewed in Tampa. We got Jai Alai, Florida White, Invasion, and Maduro.

I can't wait to buy a single of them and then watch them rot away with 95% of the rest of the beers at the stores.

At one of my nearby grocery stores placed next to the rotting Cigar City cans were 4pks of the PBR American Pale Ale. Which were priced at $5.99/4pk...

Guayabara, Tampa Lager, and Jai Alai are the only ones I’ve seen both in cans and on draft.

KBS was impossible to find locally like the first two years it showed up because there was high demand for a small supply. Now it's not too hard to find but it still sells out pretty quickly because it still has hype and there are so few good coffee-BA stouts in the Dallas market.

Price is silly for a beer that absolutely does not age.

Not trying to be a smartass, but what does this mean?

IMO KBS drops off pretty fast. I think the price is a lot to ask for a beer that goes from great to bland really quickly. (I say that knowing piles of breweries are selling hazy IPAs at close to the same price with even shorter life.) There are too many other similar beers on the market that hold up better than KBS. Coffee beers generally aren't meant to age but I've had a lot hold up infinitely better than KBS.

I guess this is not an issue if you drink all the beer you buy fresh.

Not sure, I love aged KBS. Less coffee and more chocolatey.
Agreed.

I still don't get it.
