At first glance, the attractive trio look more like country music stars with their fitted t-shirts, worn jeans, hats and designer cowboy boots. I imagine to myself they wake up in disheveled perfection, appearing camera ready for Instagram moments. But when you look closer you see a genuine, grounded spirit among each of them. They are heavily rooted with their families; Jacob lives in the family compound in Florida, Elliott and Carlo live nearby their family estates, and loving text messages from their moms are daily occurrences.

The first few paragraphs of this article remind me of that fake article about the "best beer in Belgium that nobody has heard of."

Unfortunately, this is very real.
Seriously, what the **** is it with you white people and yurts? Do you really have to co-opt every single variation of the teepee?

This past weekend at a brewfest a brewery was pouring a peanut butter imperial hefeweizen.

Read that again...

Peanut butter
imperial
hefeweizen

I laughed and got a pour of it. Didnt even take a sip of it, just nonchalantly switched out my buddy's glass for this one. To my dismay, not only did he like it but he talked me into trying it and **** my face it wasnt nearly as bad as some of the other garabage brewers were passing off to the drunkards.

A few years back at a local beer festival myself and some friends were pouring homebrews together as a group, including a peanut butter porter and a hefeweizen that happened to be very banana forward in terms of the esters. At some point one girl asked us to blend the two together to create a peanut butter banana beer, and from that point practically everyone was asking for that until the kegs kicked.

Has anyone posted this magnum opus yet?

https://www.forbes.com/sites/jimdob...-and-become-the-hottest-pilsner-on-the-market

I'm not sure what's worse: the beer or the author

Taylor continues, “It is a very complicated brew protocol and is a thick binder worth of pages to follow the actual procedure of this brew. We have one of the longest lager pilsners on the market and our total start to finish time from batch in to rack out is just under 30 days, which is extremely long for a lager. Checking temperature throughout the day and monitoring the beer is a complicated process―we use an array of different malts and we use several different hops. Ultimately, it is an extremely drinkable and refreshing pilsner. We want this beer to be a Chef-driven beer and clean your palate quickly, and not leave a heavy layer of hops.”

This isn't a parody article?

I don't think this has been posted anywhere.

Flying Dog has left the Brewers Association due to the BA's new policy of not allowing objectionable names/labels on beers.

I mean, what're they supposed to do? Change their entire lineup that's been around for almost 30 years?

We don't get Flying Dog in Texas anymore, but I completely agree with this decision by them. The BA should not be regulating free speech, let the market decide.

Ive seen this article posted via numerous social media outlets and im yet to actually click the link and read the content. But...Correct me if im wrong but wasnt Flying Dogs original slogan in the 90's something mildly offensive like "good beer, no ****" or something like that?

Yeah I'm still not sure why an official association of drinkable poison manufacturers needs to defend drinkable poison consumers from “sexually explicit, lewd, or demeaning" content. Restricting demeaning I can dig, even if I wouldn't go that way personally. But "lewd?" "No lewd content" sounds like a rule at church.

Not sure if we get them here in MI any more either; if we do, they sure as hell don't send anything limited or fun any more. But I applaud them telling the BA to **** off, just as I applauded their legal defense of Raging Bitch. BA membership is voluntary, and as such, they are within their right to impose what would be otherwise unreasonable conditions on their members. So I don't deny their right to promulgate bad policies. I do fault members who refuse to either fight against those policies or cut ties. Flying Dog is doing the right thing, which is more than be said for most breweries.

When I first moved here in 2007 they were sending every beer they made and it was on tap in most places. Right around when Raging Bitch came out (2011-2012?), I think they hit some capacity problems and pulled out "temporarily," which has lasted since then, lol.

******* headline grab by a brewery who fails to impress virtually everyone.

I'm not saying I disagree with their decision, but holy ****, go brew something noteworthy. Make headlines that way. This seems cheap.

Should they put chicken nuggies and honey mustard in a batch of Gonzo?

I can't remember the last time I've seen Flying Dog anywhere I've traveled. Maybe they are busy fulfilling their local market. I dunno, I don't remember liking their beers all that much.

I understand the BA's move. There is a pretty big push to be more inclusive of women in the industry and as drinkers which requires getting away from craft beer's long history of sexist and sometimes racist names and imagery. The BA is also taking ABI on head on. Giving out awards to Circlejerk Panty Dropper 6969 Blonde Ale doesn't help that battle.

Flying Dog has too much of that in their brand so I can understand why they left.
