Long Island's current "it" brewery pumping out hazy canned IPAs, Sand City, announced on social media they'd be releasing cans of two beers today starting at 5pm. 20min ago they randomly announced they're now selling a third can (one of their more popular beers) and told people if they already left, come back.

Needless to say, it does not appear that everyone is pleased with this decision.

What a complete clown fiesta.

There are 80 cases of the Mofo left, according to their post an hour ago.

Guess no one went back, haha.

I've never been one to get overly excited about Sierra Nevada (though some of their smaller brewery-only releases have sounded good), but I'm getting pretty excited for their Beer Camp 2017 box that hits retail in June. Here's the list:

  • Atlantic-Style Vintage Ale (English-style ale with plums) w/Fullers
  • Campout Porter (with Vanilla and Honey) w/Garage Project
  • Dry-Hopped Barleywine w/Avery
  • Dry-Hopped Berliner Weisse w/St Arnold
  • Dunkleweiss w/Ayinger
  • East Meets West IPA w/Tradehouse
  • Ginger Lager w/Surly
  • Hoppy Belgian-style Golden Ale (with Lemon Peel) w/Duvel
  • Raspberry Sundae (with lactose, cocoa, vanilla, and raspberry) w/The Bruery
  • Thai-Style Iced Tea (with lactose, orange peel, black tea, tamarind, and star anise) w/Mikkeller
  • West Coast Style DIPA w/Boneyard
  • White IPA with Yuzu w/Kiuchi
Weirdly, three of the above are going to be 16 oz cans, the rest standard 12 oz bottles, but they're going to be sold together as one 12 beer variety pack. Sounds way more promising than the craziness from last year, where each of five different beers had five other breweries collaborating with them.
I want all of these.

Edit: and Pussalia is overrated as **** too. Some of their stouts are good but I'm over their ******** attitude. Every time I go in they are ******** about everything. We get it, y'all are badasses who like to cuss and hate everything. Cool.....
Sorry if I momentarily looked like I gave **** about a Houston brewed beer...

My mistake.

I was at a party Friday talking with a guy that I see often at beer events here in town... quickly realized this guy lives in Houston and drives here every weekend just for beer events.

Can't you people make some good beer there to save on mileage or something?

Is there anything decent going on in Houston? I used to spend some time there a few years back and all I found was Saint Arnold.

Someone will probably be here in just a second to defend their beer scene.

Saint Arnold is pretty much the beginning and end of the line for me.

B52 Brewing and Lone Pint are great in that area, but they're also both 30+ miles out of town.

The only beer from Brash that I really loved was/is Cortado.

Eh, won't defend much. Saint Arnold is great, B-52 is doing well and I enjoy most of their stuff but like you said that's in Conroe. Theres a few tap rooms that are fun to go to like 8th wonder, Platypus, Karbach (despite the buy out thing, really nice taproom) but the beer isn't anything outstanding.

Edit: oh and Whole Foods actually does some really great things that go under the radar.

Karbach's brewery is probably the nicest in Texas. I thought the food was expensive for what it was though...

$5 says Pinthouse Pizza opens a 3rd branch in Houston in the next 2 years though. Austin will build you a great brewery so you don't have to. ;)

I literally cannot believe how busy both Austin branches are every night. Joe has gotta be making bank there now with crowlers.

I know the locations in the Northeast have different ownership than the Texas locations, but it surprises me that Ginger Man has become so irrelevant down in Texas. I remember having very favorable impressions of both the Boston and NYC locations. Hell, in Boston they are the only bar (rather than brewpub/tasting room) where you can order a flight of beer instead of full pours.

Rumor is that PHP3 is going to be in Round Rock. But I have nothing to back that up besides rumors.

That would be great, although my work is already less than 2 miles from the Burnet location.

I've heard the same thing about RR. I'm betting Houston is on the table outside the metro though. It would be a license to print money.

I thought Meadhall and Sunset also had flights but I haven't been in years.

Regarding the Houston Ginger Man. Yes it's still open. I wouldn't say it's irrelevant but it's certainly not a bar that you go out of your way to visit, especially being how ******* huge Houston is. There are really great bars all over so unless you happen to be in or near West University it's kind of pointless to go to Ginger Man, unless you've never been cause it is a great bar.
