That's kind of why it crashed and burned. I remember the first couple batches being great, and remember having to hunt down the bottles when the Pizza Port Bottle Shop got a case in, but then the quality took a steep nosedive.

Honestly not sure how it's faring now, but it's amusing seeing so much of it around here again.

Last year's batch was exceptional in bottles. Still a steep price tag.

Prairie hasn't waxed their bottles since the infected and rusty cap bottles of B1 Vanilla Noir and Coffee Noir around 2014. Their next stout released after that was the Evil Twin collab who's name escapes me that had some plastic sleeve thing over the cap but not wax. And then they just quit the ******** and went with a bare cap.

Smart of CCB to sneak those huna day tickets in while people are refreshing TG's website

Speaking of which, people are already complaining about various aspects of that on Twitter, including having to include a driver's license #. Some of the questions almost sound like they are trying to box TG into a quasi-legal contract, JEG-at-Jewel-Liquors-BCBS-release style.

Julian, please. It was Walgreens.

Toppling Goliath still hasn't announced any details regarding their big release here. Been about 3 weeks since they said that details would be coming out soon. I'm very curious to see how this plays out.

On January 13, 2017 Toppling Goliath Brewing will be holding a simultaneous release of two show-stopping barrel-aged beers, Kentucky Brunch Brand Stout (KBBS) and Assassin Imperial Stout. One thousand lucky lottery winners will be invited to the Toppling Goliath taproom in Decorah, Iowa, where, for $200 they will purchase an impressive boxed set of brews. Included will be 2 bottles (22 oz. each) of Assassin, a rich Imperial Stout aged for over a year in Kentucky Bourbon barrels and 1 piece of Assassin glassware. Complementing this will be 1 bottle (12 oz.) of Kentucky Brunch Brand Stout, an intensely aromatic beer with a blend of espresso and maple syrup, packaged in a limited edition, branded wooden box and 1 piece of KBBS glassware.

Registration for tickets will run from December 1-5, 2016. Registration will close at 9 p.m. CST on December 5, 2016. Regardless of when you register, everyone will have the opportunity to sign up once. All registrants will have an equal chance in the lottery, no matter when you register within the 5-day registration window. There is no benefit or consequence to when you sign up within the open registration period. REGISTER AT

https://store.nexternal.com/bustgbrews/register.aspx

You are allowed to enter only once. Attempts to enter multiple times will result in disqualification. No charges or fees are due for entering. Be sure to only click once. You will be directed to a confirmation page when you are officially entered.

If selected, you will be notified via email on December 9, 2016, and directed to log in to purchase a $5 taproom entrance ticket. You will have 48 hours to purchase your ticket. Failure to purchase within the 48 hour window will result in forfeiture to attend the release and buy the boxed set. This ticket DOES NOT reserve your boxed set, but the opportunity to purchase the boxed set if you attend the release on January 13, 2017 at the time listed in the lottery winning email. NO PROXIES OR EXCEPTIONS WILL BE ALLOWED. (Toppling Goliath has a set policy that if you are unable to attend the event, you forfeit the opportunity to purchase).

Due to the large volume of beer and people, we will not be able to serve beer on site on January 13, 2017 until 4:30 p.m. However, keep an eye out on social media for our beers which will be featured at a number of local businesses in town until we open to the public at 4:30 p.m.

Please do not contact the Toppling Goliath taproom in regards to additional event details. Details will be communicated by the Toppling Goliath staff when appropriate.

Beerontwowheels...MIDWEST ROAD TRIP.
You're expecting your third this month, right? I think we can make a 24 hour cannonball trip. Let's do it.

Have your wife call my wife. ;)

As a matter of fact I am. But that's my birthday weekend so....here's the plan:

Thurs-Sun, BWI-MSP $168 roundtrip on Southwest. Find a TBer with couchsurfing accommodations (volunteers?). LET'S DO THIS!!! SRS.

My wife has a habit of giving the green light when she thinks I'm just kidding about an idea. Once she realizes I'm serious it's already too late.

I feel like TG is the biggest troll brewer of all time. $200 for 3 beers, 2 glasses and a box (I know stupac2 said it already, but it's worth repeating) is by no means reasonable. It is their business and they can set their prices how they feel, I just wish people would stop buying into this nonsense.

...$200 for 56 ounces of beer, two glasses, and a wood box? Jesus ******* christ.

And by secondary pricing that same 56 ounces has been going for what... 2500-3000?

It is only a matter of time for breweries to catch up. I don't know if a stasis point will be reached but they've got to see these missed profits.

Still waiting on them $100+ beers that aren't tactical nuclear penguin jokes.

Let's see...

Red Atrial selling for $100+

Maple Bourbon Cake selling for $300+

And there's this...

Upon review, utilizing my BS in Business Administration to the fullest...I'll enter

I'm aware, I just can't believe how much spare change some people have. May as well ******* light money on fire for all the good it's doing you.

And the way I see it, I'm getting older, 3rd kid due in weeks, looking to take an extended break from beer...this could be my last hurrah. If I get to take a trip with a friend or two and meet some cool TBers, AND get the chance to try world class beers for a few hundred bucks it's a no-brainer.

Not at all. Ever since I met Uncle Jedi (anyone remember him?) 5 years ago at Jackie O's I realized it's all about the journey. Have fun, meet people. When else will I have an excuse to go to Iowa for a quick weekend, for less than my wife spent on Black Friday?

Edit: And if you don't remember UncleJedi, I believe he is the original organizer of Secret Santa on the other site. I took it over from him and ran it for 3 years. 60-something year old guy from Alabama who drove an RV all over the place from beer release to beer release. Shared his homebrew in half gallon milk jugs, lol. He's old school good people.

LOL never thought i'd hear an Uncle Jedi reference again. how about that. some retro ass namedroppin there

You guys are acting like Uncle Jedi has passed, he's still around doing his thing. I think he inspired pasta's patch jacket as well.

My favorite memory is the year he came out to Dark Lord Day with the Free the Hops crew from Alabama, and they had about 4 kegs of Good People and another AL brewery I've since forgotten that they shared with any and everyone.

Imstillthegman and myself are still in the OG Growling at the Moon BIF with him.

And I got stuck babysitting his young friend who puked everywhere. That was a good year.

Oh I was referring to the other "incident" that same year, when he was in line at Jewel (or maybe it was another store) and arguing with a rep about the expectation value of waiting in line with respect to the allocation.

When I lived in Huntsville I used to do bottle shares with him all the time. No idea he had a reputation. He and his wife used to sell me beer from their cross country hauls via a Square slider attached to an iPhone.
