Q-Falls and Poolside hit limited distro 2 weeks ago. Unsure if that includes outside Michigan. I was passing through and hit the general store on the way.... Wait, scratch that. I heard yesterday it wAs spotted at Binny's. So now.

damn, place i was at on Saturday had Poolside on tap and it didn't register

lesson as always. i'm oblivious.

Prior to the release?

Guess I'm oblivious too, cuz I missed it all then.
I didn't say it came from Bell's. But holy god yes. "zomg, Black Note today!" "Why didn't anyone post in the group about Black Note? Obviously several of you knew and were planning to horde it all to yourselves." oh and then there was so much butthurt when it sold out. :p:p:p

I don't like Black Note. It was fun to watch the utter meltdown though.

Yep, missed it all.

Watching people lose their **** over Black Note all afternoon has been fun. It's a distributed ass beer. Coming to a place that sells a lot pf Oberon and Two Hearted near you.
I had no idea this was a thing until a buddy asked me if a pack of Black Note was enough to land a FO.

when we going to get those Quinine Falls cans? in time for the Olympics hopefully as it would be great to have a vaccine built right in while i get drunk.
We got them last weekend. Was this close to buying, but I also saw fresh Ponto for $3 cheaper.

Man, the days I miss driving from Lansing to toledo are few and far between. Days blacknote is released is one of them.

I love how Bells releases beers. Not tickets, no hype, just at the general store.

Agreed. This is how Voodoo releases beers as well and it is great. Usually takes care of those who are keeping the lights on. I'd love to see more breweries take this approach.

Meanwhile we get a ******* massive party and huge social media blasts for every funky buddha release. I don't even bother with it anymore.

I would throw a party as well if I threw that much crap into a beer and it came out remotely close. :)

Gotta give them props for sticking with their guns. I had the Lemon Meringue Blonde recently and enjoyed it. Couldn't drink a whole bottle but it was pretty refreshing and on point.

Edit: I also went to Maple Bacon Porter day 2 years ago and it was a great time. It was 99% about their beers, which I really enjoyed. Aka it was the complete opposite of Hunahpu day.

SUBJECT: 28 years of brewing led to this one beer...

BODY:

Allen,

To some, it could be the single best beer of 2016.

Others, who don't understand the process, will say it's too expensive.

Here's why I'm thrilled to pay $18 for this brewing-mastery-in-a-bottle... and begging for them to take even more of my money:

28 years ago... in a world full of weak, sissy, yellow-bellied beers, this brewer kicked the trend and launched a now iconic American beer.

Beautifully dark and silky smooth, with a complex malt base of chocolatey and caramel sweetness.

This beer stands alone as the best-selling craft Porter in the US and is considered by anyone with their head not up their arse (you'll understand the Scottish reference later), the perfect example of the American Porter style.

It's elite 100 of 100 rating by the the Beer Advocate Bros says it all.

Not bad for a $5 beer. Rejoice all you cheapskates.

I'm talking, of course, about Deschutes Brewery’s flagship beer, Black Butte Porter. One of the all-around best beer recipes ever created.

Remember Malcolm Gladwell's 10,000 hours to mastery?

Well, Deschutes now sits on 28 years (far exceeding 10K hours) of poking, prodding and teasing every little nuance out of the brewing process until they deliver something new.

Something beautiful.

Something damn close to perfection.

Once, and only once, per year, the Deschutes machine takes it's decades-old Hall of Fame Black Butte Porter recipe and turns it loose.

The result - A coveted, never-to-be-repeated, barrel-aged batch of Black Butte Birthday Reserve.

These 22-ounce, wax-dipped bottles are unlike any other aged Porter on the market. Each year's batch features a unique ingredient and Deschutes will never make the same beer again.

A world-class Porter taken to the extreme...
Released only once a year with brand new, unique ingredients...

Last year featured pomegranate molasses and Chinese five spice aged in Bourbon barrels.

This year's ale is uber complex featuring peated malt - used in Scotish Whisky to impart smokiness - cocoa, vanilla and sweet orange peel.

Year 28 is aged in not only 50% Bourbon, like last year, but also 50% Scotch barrels.

The result is the newest, and sure-to-be classic, incantation of a truly exquisite ale with a bold smokey bourbon character.

Just about every one of Deschutes’ past Birthday Reserve series beers have been very well received and I'm positive Year 28 is another huge winner.

I expect you'll need to jump on this ASAP if you want there to be any left.
Judging by previous anniversary releases, the Black Butte 28 will mature and get better with time.

I'm certainly going to pour a bottle now. And set a few aside to cellar for 6, 12 and 18 months. If not longer.

Click here to do the same.
It might be your only chance to grab this delicious rare version of aged Black Butte Porter.
No limits until they sell out.

Cheers,
Matthew
