I think talkbeer is like a small, higher quality pool with a deep end filled with drunk yet wise adults who will kick the kids out of the pool as soon and they jump in and start pissing all over the damn place

Amirite?
You could also argue that this place is filled with people who take their hobby entirely too seriously, when ultimately this hobby is all about getting hammered and pissing all over the damn place without discrimination

Yes. Also, the guys at the deep end will throw beer bottles and laugh at anyone who enters the shallow end with water wings on.

I'd argue that this place actually takes the hobby less seriously than a lot of other forums. Or maybe to put a finer point on it, takes things seriously when they should be, and lightheartedly when they shouldn't be.

I would agree with that, although it seems like there are constant points of contention as to what should and shouldn't be taken seriously around here. Overall though, this is one big circlejerk in which I'm proud to participate.

Anyway, looks like it's that time again when people complain about a "hyped" beer release that has nowhere near the same amount of craze around it as there used to be five years ago.

I think the new hype craze is to have a brewery can one or two of their flagship IPA's in 16 oz cans, slap a sticker on them, and have a release party. ******' A, two breweries in my state have done that recently.

And if you're one of the beer hoarders who used to fill up as many growlers of the Younger as you could and immediately list them online for a 300 percent markup, thanks for ruining it for the rest of us. This is why we can't have nice things.

It's not that I dislike Pliny the beer. (Actually, I do, but that's irrelevant.)

You forgot that they need to be unfiltered too for that extra chicken broth turbidity

Every brewery now wants to be the next Alchemist Tree House Hoof Hearted.

POG? First thing that came to mind was "passionfruit orange guava" but I'm sure that's way wrong.
Nope, you're right. A year or so ago POG Grunion on cask showed up at a bunch of places around here, and it was ******* fantastic. Think a fruitier, more refreshing Lilikoi Kepolo.

When taking beer seriously goes wrong:

The caption reads:
raleighbrewreviewWelp... last night @tastybev_dtr decided that they couldn't take the heat when I called them out over what I consider lame business practices. they responded by blocking me! I stand behind the point I was trying to make even though it may have been missed due to mine and other peoples comments being deleted. My feelings are that posting a picture of a beer that's in stock but telling people it isn't for sale for another 45 minutes is only to try and create hype and hysteria. To tell me that it is about fairness is dishonest, they didn't handle this release like they do other equally sought after and limited releases where they simply informed the public the beer was in stock and in limited quantities. Their own sister store @tastybev_avl didn't seem to have a problem doing so with the same beer so I don't understand how holding beers/queuing people up for 45 minutes is more fair than that! Now, I know it may seem like I'm overreacting, and that may be so. However my problem with @tastybev_dtr or at least whichever 10 year old that runs the social media account is the way they handled the situation after they received a little criticism, they deleted everything and blocked me! How someone can go from "sorry you feel that way, we were just being fair" to deleting that sorry excuse and banning me from future posts I'm not sure, but it just seems like trying to brush criticism under the rug. I could be blowing this out of proportion but I just do not agree with how they handled the sale of that particular beer.

Guy got blocked for cursing out the bottle shop I work for, because we were releasing a beer at a set time rather than when it showed up. He's in a rage about it, on the internet
That's even worse than the time some guy approached a brewery here at a beerfest and asked them, "well if you have this beer on tap RIGHT THIS VERY MOMENT, how come I have to wait a couple more weeks to buy it in bottles?"
