It's only 15 bucks a bottle at the brewery. I believe zhukov was the same.

Used to be retailers were charging less than the brewery for these beers, but they realized they could add a couple bucks to the price and still sell out in a day. Might be different around CCB though since people can just go to the brewery itself.
Could also be an increase because of distro costs. When Green Flash first started distributing Alpine it would be common to see bottles of Nelson, normally $6 at the brewery, go for $8, $9 to make same profit on them.

Most breweries don't want to undercut their retailers, so it's very rare (at least in the Midwest) to find beer cheaper at the brewery than at a local retailer (obvious markup's like Zombie Dust at a ****** retailer vs. 3 Floyds being the exceptions).
I imagine they just don't ever go below their own MSRP.

I've been waiting all year for this.

So a lot of people love glassware and trade for walez and whatnot. What I don't get, is that you would think glassware would be easy to fake. Ordering custom logo glassware is easy, and I also bet at least a few beer geeks have access to the actual equipment. How hard would it be to make a bootleg orange Cantillon balloon? Seems like it would be super easy. Even the more intricate designs would probably be easy enough to make. Surprised this doesn't happen all the time.

Or it does? And nobody can tell.

Edit: brb posting glassware on MBC

I've heard Chimay is going to release an Oak aged version of the bleu. Has anyone heard anything about this? Can't find a source

I honestly am surprised by that as well (though: see mysterious Amazon Fantome outline ghost), but I think a combination of factors lead to this being less lucrative than it might seem. Glassware has only really had significant value for a couple years, and there's very little glassware that's really valuable enough to make faking it worthwhile. Most of that glassware also is traded within a pretty small group -- while there have been a couple instances of large finds (last summer's OG Yeti find, etc), someone random popping in with a dozen orange Cantillons would arouse some suspicion, and once you'd sold to two or three interested parties you'd find a very small market remaining. Also, a fair bit of glass at that level gets traded more than it gets bought & sold, and presumably if you were going to counterfeit you'd be more interested in cash. Plus, even when the model of glass is still made, it changes over time, so it would be pretty tough to get blank matches for some of this stuff (e.g. the Durobor Charente has gone through at least four distinct variations in the fifteen year range that I have).

I'm more interested in making glasses that don't exist but should :D

Excellent analysis. Two questions:

1. What is this Amazon Tome glass? Was it a fake?
2. What is this OG Yeti "find?" A large cache discovered somewhere?

All from memory...

Amazon Tome glass provenance unknown (I think the consensus is that it's more likely to be a weird import order that got misplaced than an intentional fake, but not totally sure). It's a lot like the original outline ghost but with a different physical glass -- they were popping up on Amazon for a bit. I'll ping some of the people who would know more than me and see if they can chime in on that one.

Last summer a guy was in Belgium and found a stash (I want to say more than five and less than ten) of OG Yeti glasses at an out-of-the-way store -- no fake suspected, they just sent some to Belgium and no one cared, then they sat on a dusty shelf for years.

So the Amazon one might be an unauthorized "This is not a Fugazi shirt" type thing.

I'm drinking a New Glarus Enigma '15 that is just down right terrible. This is the 2nd time I've had it, first was last weekend but after a night of consuming many beers including a lot of super sour AWAs(FFF Pear bear ::shivers:: ) The part that gets me is the after taste, tastes like a metallic apple sauce.

Weird I just replied to a thread about Enigma.

I had one a earlier this year that tasted like sharpies and nail polish remover.

Someone found this picture on twitter. I'm clearing out my fridge to prepare.

Local brewery, Fair State, has a really nice Hefe and apparently the brewer used to work at Live Oak? Would be fun to do a side by side.

Live Oak Hefe - an '09 growler whale. Truly lived up to the hype when I finally got to try it a couple years back. Jelly of the Texas folks with those cans.

I never thought I'd see those words together.

You know, if you say just that phrase a few times, it starts to sound kind of weird.
