Yeah... I know. That's a big downside. Nothing going on there, not a lot of positives. Would rather be in Brooklyn all around. It is a short walk from work, which is the major positive, but otherwise, it would not have been high on my list at all.

If you're looking to save some dough, but still have easy access to Midtown East, you should consider Long Island City. Greenpoint will be a bitch of a commute, and that's coming from someone that doesn't mind the G. Prospect Heights, or somewhere else on the 4/5/6, will be your best bet for Brooklyn

Yeah I definitely looked at LIC. There's a LOT of nice places there. The downside is that it's far as hell from all my friends in Brooklyn. I feel like I'd never see anyone anymore! I still haven't crossed it off my list given how close it is to Midtown.

And the price point of Greenpoint is a big positive to counterbalance the G-train situation. Prospect Heights is probably my #1 choice though, and if I end up doing a 1BR, that's gonna be the first place I aim for.

Have we pretty much mastered IPAs, as a brewing nation?

Are there still any decent sized markets in the US where a number of good-to-great local-ish IPAs aren't easily available? I know there's still crap on the shelves everywhere (60 minute has national distro, right?), but the easy availability of top-tier options seemingly everywhere is damn impressive these days.

Until I can grab a 6 of Persimmon & Burnt Orange IPA at my LLS then we will not have enough IPA's, **** it I want a Chamomille IPA for the winter when i get flu-ish and I want a Matzo Ball Soup IPA for my GF and her family when it's time for their HIGH holidays.

IPA's are the future man, just ride this wave out with us and relax. Be thankful you don't live in 3015, BSPA and Overlord Wakefield Brewing Gruits are the hot thing over then right now....

I work in a chemistry lab, and like most labs we have spray bottles of 70% isopropyl alcohol for cleaning things, which is abbreviated “IPA”. After 6 years I still get confused for a split second whenever someone asks me for some IPA. (Our company is also like 90% people who appreciate craft beer, which makes it even more confusing.)

We've got at least 3 distributors in the Austin area that specialize only in craft (Favorite Brands, Flood, BEK)

Strangely, the Bud distro is my favorite to deal with, lol.

Because they have enough money that they don't care. They're losing fast and getting desperate. In Oregon especially (but also in Northern California) I don't know anyone who drinks macro. Lots of people drink PBR and Rainier (the popular local option made by Pabst) and everyone else my age (26) drinks craft beer. I'm sure they're losing all of their <30 market share.
