So my goal is to decrease my cellar substantially this year. So far, I've opened 40 bottles and brought just 1 new bottle into my apartment. I was very proud of myself for being down 39 bottles by mid february. Until I realized via brewery/meadery memberships, I've actually purchased 33 more bottles. They just aren't here yet. So I'm really only -6.

In LA for a wedding so I got together with my old beer crew tonight. It was clear we weren't gonna get to some of the bottles I brought so rather than put them back in storage I gave them to the guys to open at a later date. They gave me two bottles.

We have minimized the number of memberships we are in (two and one is lifetime so no renewal fee), and the amount of bottles we have reduced from when we committed to cellar reduction is more than a sane person's cellar, so we are doing pretty well. We still have a way to go, but quality is up, things meant to age are up.

Any number down is progress. Keep it up.

Anytime you wanna give up that lifetime memb...j/k - nobody trying to do that.

Had my first Monkish IPA... That's what people line up for hours and go crazy for? What a ******* disappointment.
My reaction to Tired Hands. Or really any of the hype IPA breweries. They tend to be fine beers but I wouldn’t spend my day waiting in line for them or go crazy trading for them. Once upon a time when there weren’t a lot of great IPA breweries fine I get it but now there are too many good options on the shelf and my trash palate can’t tell the difference between the shelfies and the hype cans.

Drink it Now day is today ! You may have heard of it...promoted by Allagash each year.

Concept is kinda obvious, if you have a great beer that you have been sitting on a while, waiting for the right moment to open, well, drink it now ! I like the idea in general, but having the specific "holiday" today is cool.

Southern Tier 3xIPA might be easier to drink and more enjoyable than 2x. That'll get you in trouble quickly.

(wondering who'll be the first to say something about drinking hard to drink, unenjoyable beers? I know who I've got my money on.)

As annoying as a lot of the current beer trends can be, the current overwhelming trend in glassware - multicolored glasses ripping off intellectual property from various pop-culture sources - is infinitely worse. And even for the ones that aren't ripoffs (so glasses using the breweries beers/logos/etc), I'm really not a fan of this style, with few exceptions. Just typically way too much going on and too many colors that don't work well together.

Would you say that Hill Farmstead is the best of the best when it comes to glassware??

Nah, especially since they ditched the balloons. Not sure if I'd pick anyone as having the best glassware*, although Schramm's has been putting out some really gorgeous stuff lately. De Garde is also up there, especially in terms of "have released a lot of nice glassware in a lot of different glass styles".

*Well, besides pre-sale TalkBeer of course.

This is why I only drink out of my vintage 1993 Flintstones McDonald's glass mugs.

Who needs the added confusion.

I'm glad I never got into the glassware game. I've collected a few from here and there but definitely never searched a bunch out.

I typically only use Willi's and can shape glasses for the most part.

I've got a probably 300 .rar and specialty glassware pieces and routinely only use a willi from a local i don't care about and dishwash, a goblet from tyranena that's completely washed away, a teku from a local, or a quart mason jar for intiharing black tuesdays. workhorses.

The rest are literally just cabinet fodder at this point.

I used to care, I just don't any more.

Unless you want to offload 3F fountains glasses. Then I'm your huckleberry.

agreed. I threw away like 40 glasses recently and probably need to throw away more. Was kinda stoked when the galaga one came out originally cause I'm a huge fan and used to have a cabinet (high score around 400k), but then saw they were going for like $100 to which I thought to myself:

I need to clean out everything in my kitchen for an upcoming renovation. Currently have just about two full cabinets of beer glasses and I'm looking forward to only moving a handful back in.

HF Bulb, NEBCO snifters, TB glasses and some willis.

Yeah it's funny I have probably 30 glasses that I've bought when we visit places. They kind of took over and we use them for regular stuff. My father in law was drinking Sprite from my cantillon glass, I laughed.

I use an other half / carton can glass DJPhresh gave me, HF, TB Willi, and the R2D2/C3PO glass Cronkite11 got me.

It is fun to proper beers but it's not important either.

I follow one of these glassware shitlords and wanted to buy one until I saw it was $40 for 2 glasses. Plus shipping.

Go **** yourself, dude.
