ABINBEV owns Hoegaarden? huh
They bought the brand/brewery after the original brewery burnt down and Interbrew purchased an interest to “help reopen” the brewery. Eventually they pushed Pierre Celis, who owned the brewery at the time out by making him make Hoegaarden more “mass market” by insisting he change the recipe... and he came to Austin to open Celis Brewing.

Austin apparently had the same water chemistry as there was in Hoegaarden so he took the original recipe and began brewing Celis White here.

Eventually he was ****** again when Miller acquired Celis Brewing, turned around, and shut down the brewery and sold the brand to a brewery in Michigan where it was brewed for years.

Pierre died.

Fast forward a decade and a half to 2017 and his daughter Christine got the brand back (after the brewery in Michigan went bust) and reopened Celis Brewing in Austin.

TLDR; Celis White is Hoegaarden.

I’ve yet to bother with any of the new Celis beers. I haven’t even tasted a single one.

It’s really really good. They’ve really got the White dialed in.

It hasn’t been canned/bottled yet at the new brewery, but the Grand Cru is one of my favorites on tap around town.

My wife crushes Celis Strawberry by the case as well.

I believe they’re Austin only right now but they’re being distro’ed by Brown Distributing so I imagine Houston expansion will come soon enough.

It’s all over in Houston. I just walk right past it every time.

They appear to have missed Mahou-San Miguel/Founders.

Were the intent to encompass that level of detail, then they missed quite a bit. For example, Mahou owns an equally large stake in Avery now. Likewise, through Lagunitas Heineken owns a stake in a number of breweries like Short's and Moonlight. Hell, the included FCP portfolio doesn't include their most recent acquisition Deep Ellum. It's a nice looking graphic, but there are way too many convoluted brewery ownership situations to package neatly in a single infographic.

Tens of relationships they missed. Agreed.

If FCP is smart they'll forget they made that acquisition, too.

Shorts and moonlight are on the graphic though.
