Does a beer being in a can make it better or something? Urban Family is doing a canned release of two IPAs today and I'm seeing people who have never once shown an interest in the brewery (or even visited the brewery) getting all excited. These two beers have been made in the past and were available around the Seattle area on tap, but now that they're in cans the response is bigger.

Do people want to drink at home (they did fills of these beers before)? Am I being cynical and thinking people just view IPA cans as currency?

I need a beer.

I have been a big fan of Urban Family for a while now, but have only ever had their sours/fruit. Are their IPAs any good?

Their IPAs are really good. They've been doing the hazy thing for a couple years now, but today they're releasing Replicator and Star Death in 4-packs. Brewery only. Very happy for their recent success but I find the behavior around cans to be pretty fascinating.

Social media hyperbole definitely is a thing that I'd like to punch in the face, but I'm sure there will be lines at UF today, and there have never been lines at UF. Ever.

Juice + Tallboy cans + sticker label = insanity

Pretty interesting move by BP/Constellation that could either pay off big or close in 6 months. This is possibly the most expensive place outside of Times Square that they could put a brewpub.

Not sure Disney would allow this over in Orlando just because they already run their own [company-owned] brewery on property (Big River Grille & Brewing), although it's not in Downtown Disney.

That would actually make a lot of sense. Jai Alai is at pretty much every vendor nowadays in the parks.

Can you get a Sculpin at California Adventure right now?

Last time I was at CA was in 2016, and then it was Stone, Hanger 24 and Karl Strauss.

Yeah, pretty sure I've seen that on tap there at some point. I was there last weekend, and I think I spotted Grapefruit Sculpin as well.

Lots of diehard Disneyland-goers are praising the new brewpub - I believe it's replacing a previous brewpub that was mediocre at best.

Myself, I don't see the excitement, especially since I'm a jaded old man and nothing from them excites me anymore. I mean, when you're reduced to releases like this

I don't really want anything to do with you.

I understand the hype, but I do wish we could've gotten a different brewery, like Karl Strauss or even something a little more contemporary like Modern Times.

I don’t think I’ve had a BP beer since Watermelon Dorado.

Bleh.

I just pulled a 4 pack of Yellow Rose out of a few packs that was dated 1/23/18. All the others were dated 1/08 so for the first time ever digging brought the old IPAs actually paid off.

I wonder if I look like the egg guy to other people.

The other day a younger guy came into the bar and asked if we had any tallboys of hazy IPAs for sale. I said no, but we do have a hazy double IPA on tap... he paused for a bit and said, “Eh, I GUESS I’ll have it on tap. You don’t have any cans to drink, though?” JFC

Yeah that makes no sense at all. The advantages of cans is that they are light/space economical for transportation, shipping, and you can drink directly from them in situations where that's ideal (pool, hiking, etc.). But if you're at a bar why the **** wouldn't you just drink a draft pour, if the option is there? It's more likely to taste fresher, be carbonated properly, and so on.

I’m really not a huge stickler for glassware but I think the willi becher is a perfect vessel for most styles.
Yeah I second that. Took me a while to decide which glassware to make for my beers but I said **** and it and I'm using only Willi Bechers for all styles. Maybe I'll make some tulips in the future but for now I'm good.
