I actually don't know much about this beyond what you posted (namely, that someone managed to steal a case of Side Project Double Barrel Derivation bottles), other than it happened at some festival in Colorado that I've never heard of.

The first question that comes to my mind is "how did that happen?". Like, that seems as if it would be pretty conspicuous.

people steal everything not nailed down at a lot of festivals. My sister in law puts on a multi-million dollar charity event ($350,000 for a single bottle of wine) around here that is sponsored by buffalo trace. Every year for the last 5 I've have to stop an individual or a small group from stealing the actual buffalo statues from buffalo trace. They just try to walk them out to the door like they brought them in.

You'd be amazed what you can get away with just by acting like you're supposed to be doing it. I'm honestly surprised at how infrequently this sort of thing happens given how easy it is and how sociopathic the beer scene is these days.

This.
1. "Pretend" to be a volunteer.
2. Casually grab case of beer.
3. Leave with case of beer.

JulianB, you're all over FB, what's the deal?

I've left about two dozen Facebook groups already today and continue to drop out of them as I see them float into my feed. After an unfortunate incident this weekend (where I was not part of what happened, but stupidly chose to amplify it on social media) I've resolved to stay a lot more out of online beer drama and histrionics, particularly in terms of boosting the signal by sharing and re-posting things. I'll still dump relatively harmless stuff like bad trade offers into the appropriate thread, but I think staying out of the various personal drama/nonsense, at least outside of private conversations, is a good idea. And while I don't necessarily object to the online pile-ons which have occurred recently on breweries that decided to step in it on social media (Dystopian, Scofflaw, etc. brought the bad attention on themselves), I won't be joining in. In that respect, I also think it's worth everyone's time to ask "is this going to have a negative effect on a brewery/3rd party who doesn't deserve it?" when thinking about posting or sharing stories about online beer/mead/etc personal disputes and histrionics. On the surface, it might seem fine to call out some shitlords for getting into a fight over mules at a release or whatever, but the breweries usually didn't ask for that kind of crap and they wind up having to deal with trolling and stupidity after the fact simply for being the site of immature behavior.

But don't worry, I won't quit your dumpster fire HF group...for now. ;)

Also, none of this applies to me personally, so continue to post sleeping pics, use me in memes, etc. All of that stuff is in good fun. *insert julianwinking.gif here*

What is the name of this HF group and who runs it?

Hill Farmstead Trading Group is easily the best Facebook beer group in the world. There's honestly no one else remotely in their class, in my estimation. These memes are so much better than anything else I've had, in their styles, and this is true across so many different types of posts. It's just unbelievable the degree to which I enjoy these posts more than other representations of the same meme. I don't say this lightly either. It would be convenient if I didn't need to create numerous fake accounts for my favorite Facebook beer group, but that's just the reality of the situation.

I've already drank and puked more this month than I have all December.

Hmm, maybe Dry January is something I should have done.
Reconsidering how much I have had to drink at this all inclusive resort when everyone orders a round of shots.

It was extremely useful for getting our Airbnb group together for the weekend, so I was planning to leave it up for stuff like that. Plus I figure any contentious content is going to play out in the "other" group now.

And what a sweet Airbnb it was! Though nathanmiller never did jump in the pull. And no one got eaten by a gator.

Also, I think you’re making the right call re: leaving FB groups. Too much toxicity. It gets all-consuming.

nathanmiller's drunken monologue filmed at the kitchen counter was one of the highlights of the weekend.

And it was cold and kinda nasty. I am sad I wasn't able to go for a swim but perhaps during TBBW.

I just rewatched that video, and other than some strange voice inflections, I stand by every word of it.

Odd observation. Why does every brewery CEO, leader, brewer always hold a beer during panel discussions, interviews, digital videos. It often seems forced and many times lame.

Imagine if the CEO of Burger King always had french fries in his hand while giving an interview.

Come on dude you should have said Whopper. Fries could be anyone. Gotta rep the brand.
