I'd never done growlers or crowlers before at PDX (good to know that), but I always used to hit up the "Made In Oregon" store before boarding my flight to grab various bottles and bombers (not necessarily to drink on the plane, they had good selections of stuff from Commons, Cascade, etc. before that stuff was being wider distro).

PDX is easily the best airport in the world. There's honestly no one else remotely in their class, in my estimation. These crowlers are so much better than anything else I've had, in their styles, and this is true across so many different types of beer. It's just unbelievable the degree to which I enjoy these beers more than other representations of the same style. I don't say this lightly either. It would be convenient if I didn't need to drive a thousand miles for my favorite airport, but that's just the reality of the situation.

Doing this more than once a day is overkill, someone already beat you to it.

Or just not tell them? I've drank many growlers flying between Salt Lake and Portland.

Not supposed to bring your own alcohol on Amtrak either, but that never stopped me in my youth.
I'd rather not break federal regulations personally, but whatever floats your boat. I'm not gonna go crazy if I spend a 2 hour flight without beer.

Why would you drive 1000 miles to an *air*port?

Airbräu in Munich is the only place I've seen growlers personally. You can even get mini kegs to go for €3 per liter.

Why don’t airlines have corking fees? I’d pay a couple bucks to legally drink beer-to-go bought in the airport, or whiskey samples brought through security.

American flagged carriers won't touch that, because it is a huge liability (and possibly illegal at present). But some technically dry airlines like Kuwait Airways are known that, sans corkage fee, at least for their premium cabin customers.

Is there anywhere that lists the various policies about alcohol carry-on for all the airlines?

I guess I should say that I only know for sure that Laurelwood sells growlers (right next to the gate I always fly out of) but I wouldn't be surprised if the other locations do as well.

Rogue and Henry's do growlers as well. Deschutes is taking over the Rogue space soon, and HUB is taking over one of the Laurelwood spots. All the Made in Oregon shops selling bottles (Cascade, Logsdon, Upright, etc.) are nice, too.

Knowing how awesome PDX is in regard to beer options just makes me sad whenever I fly out of SeaTac.

Not that I've come across. I only know of the Kuwait example from reading OMAAT, a miles and points blog that has a ton of premium cabin flight reviews for carriers nobody would ever want to bother flying.

One of the area's better beer bars has an all-stout line up being tapped later today, and they're all high abv. So much as I'd like to drink all of the below, that isn't practical. Any suggestions as to the best couple to order?

The beers under consideration:
AleSmith Hawaiian Speedway Stout
Boulevard/Firestone Walker Collaboration #6
Lagunitas Willetized Coffee Stout
Mikkeller Tree Blood
Stone Mikhail's Odd
Upland Bourbon Barrel Teddy Bear Kisses

I don't really like regular Speedway that much but I really enjoyed the Hawaiian version. I also haven't had any of the other beers on this list so my opinion is pretty much worthless ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Willetized is the best BBA coffee stout, for the price, of all time.

I had Mikhail’s Odd a few years ago, when the previous batch was fresh, and it was probably the best Stone beer I have ever had. Really damn good, but also expensive ($18/500ml or something like that).

I haven’t had the others.

Haven't seen the prices yet, but whenever they do an event like this they standardize prices, and usually on the high end. I'm assuming all of the above are likely to go for around $8 per 5 oz pour.
