Sunday Morning Stout is fuckng boozy. I'd let my other bottles sit but it also tastes like some bell pepper coffee notes may be coming in full force soon. It's good but not even close to non infected bcbcs, or even kbs or Big Bad Baptist. Overhyped.

Agreed. I never get the bell pepper notes that some people do, but it tastes like it was aged in very wet Ten High Barrels....

Always liked that beer a lot. But you're right about BBB. Criminally underrated beer.

Haven't tried this year's but thought last year's was poor. I'm not a big KBS fan but people calling this a KBS killer must be from PA or something

I drank a 2016 Hop Juju last night. It's a boozy, sweet mess. I remembered liking 2015 a lot more.

You shut your whore mouth

I wouldn't really compare SMS to KBS though. Other than the similar three lettered acronym, KBS is strikingly different. Better mouthfeel, less boozy, sweeter, and more "balanced", ie it doesn't have that peppery coffee taste like SMS, but i dig that. KBS just tastes better, plain and simple.
SMS is still one of my favorites though. Definitely hyped, but a hell of a lot easier to get than KBS for me.
Different strokes for different folks i guess.

And yes, BBB is criminally underrated.

I only had one last year that I got as an extra that I thought had a ton of bell pepper notes. It's actually why I bought a 4 pack of it this weekend, which I had one of last night. The one I had last night wasn't a bad beer, but I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as the bottle I had last year.

Question for any of the Austin TBers. I was sent a Naughty Brewing glass from a trade on the other site. I have no information on the brewery. Last updates seem to be from about a year ago. Do they still exist? From what I remember they contacted out for their beers. Any help would be appreciated.

I did a KBS side by side with Sunday Morning Stout last year, I can't tell the difference, which is great because it's 6 bucks cheaper and easier to find.

I don't think Sunday Morning this year was anywhere near as good as last year so that might not really work out this year.

I don't really like KBS all that much either so maybe my opinion doesn't mean jack .... (work sensor).

IIRC they still operate as a side project of Adelberts. They don't release much beer, I think Kentucky Streetwalker was the last one in the fall.

How many side projects does Adelberts have? I only knew about oddwood but it seems like thats going to become its own independent thing IIRC?

Just those two that I'm aware of. And Oddwood is moving into their own facility sometime this year.

Beyond just making their own beer, Adelberts sees themselves as something of an "incubator" for new breweries. So they allow them to use their equipment, etc., in the hopes of getting up and running on their own. So far they seem to be 1 for 2 - Oddwood is moving out and getting their own spot, and Naughty seems to have run out of steam.

I assume with Oddwood moving on, someone else will be stepping into their place to brew out of Adelberts in the near future.

Well I just landed from Belgium to see both of my checked bags were wet, one was soaked. Just peaked into that latter - 2 Hommages are absolutely shattered, like someone hit them with a baseball bat shattered. Haven't checked the other. But I sit here at work feeling like I lost 2 children.

I just needed to vent that.

**** you KLM.

Liked for sympathy.

Tis the season for dueling "how long did YOU wait for Pliny the Younger" war stories. I'm equally guilty of this when I get a few in me, but it's funny just how quickly it devolves into a "Oh well I know so-and-so from somesuch beer bar" dick measuring contest.

Three years ago, my friends and I went on a Wednesday morning and got there at 9. There was a line around the block because someone had chartered a bus and they were first in line. What would normally be a 2 hour turn ended up being 5 as none of those people had to drive. We finally got in around 4/5. That same day, 10 different places in San Francisco had it on tap. That was the last time I had Younger.

Tired Hands Waiting for the Bloom has got to be a joke in the same vein as their milkshake series, right?
I didn't try the canned version, but I thought it was really great on draft and expressed the Nelson hops very well.
Maybe I'm the worst, because I love their beers. ZFG.
