Bought a 12 pack of Hi-Wire Lo Pitch last week to have while playing some games. All glasses in this picture are the same beer from the same 12 pack

Approximately 50% of the cans exploded as if they were violently shook up when they hadn’t been and were sitting in a refrigerator for like 24hours before opening. My friends laughter cannot be contained as he is trying to figure out how this happened.

Worst part is, I’ve been to this brewery is Asheville a few times before and each time was awful and I was willing to give their packaged beer a shot. I was trying to switch it up from my usual 12 pack of 12th of Never and this is what I get.

Hey,

I work for Hi-Wire Brewing. I hate to hear that you don't like our beers, but you can't win them all. In the four years since I've been with Hi-Wire I've never seen an issue arise such as the one in the picture. Do you have any of those cans left or the box? We would love to check the date/batch in order to cross reference that with our lab and address any issues. We are the type of brewery looking to put out quality liquid that people can trust to be deliciously consistent. When we do fumble we want to correct mistakes and learn from them so they do not continue or happen again. Please reach out so we can make this right for you. You can hit me up at [email protected]

Thanks,

You said "it didn't help" (which is not the same thing) and the rest of your post was really uncharitable.

Just FYI it's pretty uncommon for the author of a piece to write its headline, that's usually the editor or someone else higher up. It's kind of bizarre that this criticism is so common, do people really not know this? I suppose at a place like Thrillist that might not be true, but it's a weird nit to pick regardless.
And even if the author writes the title, it's generally editorial who makes the final approval or sets relatively strict guidelines about what kind of title you can even write. It's ******, and dear god are there few things that make me angrier than article titles that end with the word explained (looking at you Vox media), but it's the reality of how these sites operate and their desperate need to generate clicks to prove viability to advertisers.

The owners of this hole couldn't even figure that out.

Kudos!

This is a tired hands beer.

No idea what’s in it (not my picture) but oh my
"Constructed atop mounds of pillowy malted oats, activated charcoal, and graham crackers. Intensely hopped in the kettle with Cascade & Simcoe. Dry hopped singularly and aggressively with the almighty Nelson Sauvin from our 2018 selections in New Zealand. Conditioned on heaps of Tahitian vanilla and graham cracker."

Yikes. Would sound amazing without the charcoal, vanilla, or crackers.

Sounds like some Omnipollo mess.

Maybe they're trying to break into the OD recovery sector?
Why else would a brewery put activated charcoal into a beer?

What a waste of Nelson.

Speaking of Brut IPAs I just had a Great Notion All The Stars which had absolutely nothing wrong with it category: had less flavor than Lemon La Croix.

Hey Chris, very much appreciate the response. I have been meaning to email the brewery but I have been pretty swamped, so I'll reach out to you directly this morning.

What a waste of Nelson.
I only had the draft version from the Brew Cafe over the summer, which didn't have the graham crackers and vanilla, but it was my favorite TH hoppy beer of this whole year. It was so clean tasting (likely from the activated charcoal) that it was all I drank the entire night. I can't see it benefiting from the graham crackers and vanilla, but the base beer is good enough that I wouldn't write it off.

Saw your post quoted further in the thread (without the mention of the original beer) and thought "hot christ this description has Tired Hands all over it, its making me squirm."

Further investigation confirms my suspicion.
