Am I the only one who thinks that stout could be good *if* they give it sufficient time in the barrel and don't add a bunch of sweet adjuncts to it?

Oh who am I kidding, of course that's what they are going to do.

If it was in the hands of a capable brewery, sure. But Omnipollo never fails to disappoint.

There is a surf/island themed burger chain called Islands in California (maybe other states as well). During their happy hour, all apps (nachos, cheese fries etc.) are half price.

We ate edibles and went to Islands. We were crushing the food and everything seemed fine, but then my buddy got up to go to the bathroom, took 3 steps, fainted and fell into a fake tree in the restaurant.

When my brother and his roommates first moved out here from VA, they met us for some beers in Dolores Park. One of the roommates bought a pot truffle from one of the seemingly endless number of vendors, ate some portion of it, and ended up throwing up and passing out on BART on the way home. I struggle to think of a more appropriate welcome to SF.

Sounds like they made a ****** NE IPA. People probably complained about hop burn and now that that's calmed down, you can appreciate the unintentional Belgian yeast characteristics.

Oh wow you're probably absolutely right. I was reading it like they brewed a beer, and this was a new batch that was less hoppy and had intentional pronounced bubblegum flavors from a Belgian strain. But your explanation makes a lot more sense.
 
In a fun positive note, a member of my homebrew club and her husband (who was an original assistant of Chris Betts from Transient when he was working out of One Trick Pony) moved to North Carolina a couple of years back.

Since then she has become the Executive Director of the Craft Malsters Guild, a member of the American Homebrewer Association Governing Committee and gave a talk today at the National Homebrew Conference Homebrew Con.

Sad I couldn't work things out with work to be out there this week (Great Notion apparently had a stupid good taplist yesterday...), but always cool to see someone from my homebrew club advance in the industry.

First time with edibles I called my GF at the time and asked her "Am I real?" and "I'm alive right?"


One of the first dates my now wife and I went on she had made butter with some extremely potent weed (for like 2008) and made cookies. Big cookies. We each ate one and went to the driving range. That was fun and just starting to kick in. When we got back to her place we watched a horrible awesome movie (Phil The Alien) and sat on the couch. A few minutes later I was the guy in that comic. Later I started incessantly feeling my legs and checking my pockets over and over and over again, trying my best not to be conspicuous but her roommate was staring at me, making it worse. She asked what I was doing, but the only thing I was concentrating on is that "I lost one of my hands and I can't find it"
